Just "watched" the gametracker (OK, I DID do other things, but I kept an eye on it....I'm nuts ok!)
Tonight we were leading for almost all of the first half (went into the break down by 1) and stunk up the joint in the second half (that would be...3-28 shooting).
I certainly don't think anyone expected us to win any of these games in the WNIT---I do hope we got some sense of who we are out of these games. We lost them by an average of 23 points. Hopefully the experience will pay off.
Obvious problem is we are shooting 48% from the line after three games. OUCH!!! Wright is 5-17. I'm tired of belaboring this issue, I just don't know how much success we can have until she works through this.
Not much better is we are 7-25 from beyond the arc. It's not the percentage that bothers me as the lack of shots. Our opponents are shooting twice as many 3's as we are. I realize these teams are faster to the ball than Patriot League teams...so anything I say is just a distant observation--but a concern nonetheless. Zavocki--easily our biggest outside weapon--is only shooting 1-6 from beyond the arc. My guess is she's drawing good defenders and being marked in the zone. Still...we need more.
Spicer's still getting 33 minutes/game. I really, really, really hope there is a plan to develop a way to get the ball up the court without her as she is a senior.
Where I'm CERTAIn we'll get better is rebounding. Tammy's worst teams have been good rebounding teams and pretty good defensive teams, and I expect this group will come along.
I'm just worried right now as to where the points are going to come from.
Looking forward to catching them in Kirby next weekend.
