Gatorade is putting on this rather comical promotion. They are bringing back the players of the 1993 Easton- P'burg teams that played to a tie in 1993. I noticed two former Leopards on the roster in Justin Rouse of Easton and Joe Luke of P' Burg. Leonard Moore was also a member of that P'burg team but it appears he will not be playing in the game. It says a venue has yet to be worked out for the game but I would think they are trying to secure Fisher. |

Sounds like the premise for that old football movie with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams. I don't remember the title but the movie had some good moments!
I guess the victor gets bragging rights for all eternity. Sounds like fun!! |

I've talked to guys who are playing in it and they have told me they are getting a grand each. Gatorade is also paying for the conditioning sessions. Each school gets $10,000. Don't know what the college is getting for the rental or Coke for letting them advertise and sell their (Pepsi)products in the stadium.
The big controversy is that the Pburg QB who played the entire game is not being allowed to play by the Pburg coach from that year. He has chosen the QB from the following year who did not take a snap in the original game.
Just announced by Mayor Panto is that their will be a two block street party from the CHT down to the stadium. Next they'll announce that mounted police in riot gear will be patrolling. |

I seriously can't figure out if this will be a great thing for what is mostly a depressed town, or a complete joke.
The tie didn't cost anyone the conference championship. I believe Easton went onto the playoffs afterward. There are receivers who are 60 pounds bigger than their playing weight. Guys with heart conditions who can't play (I believe that includes former Lafayette player, Rouse). I don't remember any clamoring for this game to be finished. It was a dog of a game if I remember correctly.
I mean...football is the one sport where your options are done when you aren't in school (Obviously the pros). It's not like baseball, softball, basketball, or other sports where you can at the very least play in beer leagues when its over.
I can't see any way this won't be a pathetic display...The teams only have 30 players. Expect them to be at 20% by the third quarter. _________________ I bleed Maroon |

And I was wrong. They put on a hell of a show in ridiculous heat. The stadium was packed and the enthusiasm once again made the Lehigh game looked tame. I used to think it would be great to get more Easton people up to Lafayette...but frankly I get it now. Easton/Pburg fans go to the games, watch them and CHEER. Lafayette fans show up in the 2nd or 3rd quarter, chat, text their friends and walk around. _________________ I bleed Maroon |
