Watch Coach's comments after the loss to Penn last night at the link below.  She says, with respect to playing the freshman, "that's where I am going ... that's where this Lafayette program is headed ... it's going to be this class, the next class and the class after it ... the future of the program is the young kids."  Our best two players left from last year, Hood and Lutz, played six and zero minutes, respectively, in the loss to Penn.  I guess this year has been written off to rebuilding the program with her recruits.

What are your thoughts on Ribarich, RS?  Thought she could be developed but they seem to have abandoned her, just a few mins per game.  I know John Leone gives us a lot of fluff, his job to do, but thought he seemed impressed with her potential last year.

While I agree that playing the Freshmen in the way to go, I think Coach should play Maya Hood much more - the team is always better when she is in there.

I thought Ribarich made great strides last year and - you're right - they have abandoned her.  Coach is playing instead one of "her 4", Santarelli, who is now 13-53 (24%) from the field.  While Santarelli might be quicker, Ribarich is a much better scorer in the low post - you don't lose much with defense and rebounding with Ribarich and she is our best low post scorer.

Though team defense has lots of room for improvement, lack of offense is killing us right now.  The team FG% is 33% through 8 games.  We average 50 points a game.  Shooting 33% and scoring 50 points won't win many games.  The freshman have taken a third of the shots the team has fired up and are a combined 34-145 (23%) from the field.  Again, if the idea is to compete in the games we play this year, Hood, Lutz and Ribarich need to get minutes over the freshman.  But I think Coach has made it clear she is playing for two years from now and is not concerned with competing this year or even next.  Will that change when we get to the PL games?  Unsure, but I doubt it.

Theresa Grentz is the single ray of hope in this abysmal athletic toilet that McCutcheon is running.  She pulls no punches and speaks frankly.  In the post game interview last night after the Penn game she said (and I "quote" very loosely) "That's what happens when your opponent doesn't respect you."  Then when Mike Joseph asked her about all the playing time the freshmen are getting she said, "The future of this program is with the freshmen, the class coming in next year, and the one after that.  I'll do what I can for the other kids in the program, but that's where we're headed."  No "coach speak" from her.  Don't expect much this year, but there may finally be a future for this program.

If she plays her best players we might win 2 games from here on out. If she plays the freshmen, we lose all games by 20 or more points. Frosh talent waaaay overrated by Coach G.  No light at the end of this tunnel.

Well, with respect to Mr. Carney, welcome back, it seems to me that the biggest complaint on this board is that we do not win enough games.

Hopefully, Grentz's players turn out to be All PL players. But now, she should be putting the best players that give us the best opportunity to win on the floor.

It really bugs me that this team has fallen this far in just the last 4 years.  Freshmen? One of them, I swear, if she's D-1 talent, I'm Wilt Chamberlain.

FG% 28 % and 46 points - below even our miserable averages.

Historically, I've agreed with you 100% on all issues.  We finally part ways on Theresa Grentz.

More of Coach pushing the freshmen in this interview.  They're "leading the way".  Coach claims "everybody has an opportunity to step up", but immediately after saying that, seems to restrict that statement only to the freshmen, saying the more "they" get comfortable, "they" will lead us in January and February.    https://campusinsiders.com/videos/four-freshmen-leading-the-way-for-lafayette-in-2017/

She made a comment following the men's game on Monday to a former coach. I understood her to say "we have turned the corner".
