Colgate's  Chris Looney WR Verona, NJ  6-4 190

Nice job IMO to find and get this kid who is a late bloomer, crossover from BBall.  Another receiver (simonds) with great length for gate.

“Chris always felt his future was in basketball, but when he started to do such great things in our summer workouts and we sent some film out it became evident that he could play football at the next level,” said Verona head football coach Lou Racioppe. “Having a quarterback like Anthony Oranges, who could get the ball in his hands, was a major plus for him and Chris’ natural athletic ability then just took over.”

Looney, a runner-up to Irvington’s elite recruit Joshua Evans, as Sideline Chatter’s Essex County Offensive Player of the Year in 2008, finished last fall’s brilliant gridiron campaign with a school, single-season record 86 receptions for 1,250 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-way standout helped lead the Hillbillies (11-1) to the North 2, Group 1 playoff championship./////

Fordham's  Langston LaCroix  RB  5-9 190  4.49  315 bench 450 squat

One of the more dynamic and versatile players in Central Jersey the last two years has been Langston Lacroix of New Egypt, NJ---rivals

Commits over claimed offers from NH, Maine, Monmouth.

Rams seem to get a prized RB recruit yearly.

Ram fans complaining about the effect of the new AI regs on their recruiting. They seem to be doing just fine.  IMO, it maybe just brings them closer to the same pool that the rest of us have to recruit from, maybe eliminating an unfair advantage they enjoyed previously.

Welcome  aboard, Jason!

AS DT Jason Marshalek selects LC---Eastern PA Sports

background info from sungazette:  (He is also a TE)

Marshalek, like Cascio, is a veteran of the Warrior program. The 6-4, 270-pound 12th grader played varsity as a freshman and started the last three years.

He entered his senior year as the Central Susquehanna Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year and didn't disappoint. Marshalek averaged almost 10 tackles a game and was the team leader in sacks. Marshalek was a mainstay on a defense that surrendered an average of 14 points a game. The Warriors pitched two shutouts and seven times held opponents to single digits.

"The thing about Jason is he understands the game," Bergen said. "We saw him at times make a tackle on a screen near the sidelines. You see him on film, he recognized it and anticipated, and was running before the quarterback even looked. He's really intelligent, knows the game, and he really helped himself."

Marshalek is looking at both Lafayette and Cornell, and wants to continue playing football. He can now add an all-state selection to an already impressive resume.

Holy Cross  Erik Wachter NJ-AS LB

Maine has been stocking up on Jersey talent, good to see PL win one.

Star Ledger   (Yesterday actually, but it's slow today)

Hunterdon Central's Erik Wachter, a Second Team All-State selection at linebacker, has committed to play football next fall for Holy Cross.

The 6-1, 215-pound Wachter was the leader of the Hunterdon Central defense where he registered 175 tackles, 118 of them solo, at inside linebacker.

Wachter pared his choice down to Holy Cross and Columbia after he had earlier ruled out Maine. Wachter, an excellent student, also had Holy Cross' Patriot League rival, Colgate, on his list of suitors.

Lafayette  Zach Midulla  TE/LB (thanks to W & M poster on AGS for the heads up)

now carried by rivals as a solid verbal

Zach Midulla is one of the top LB/DE prospects in Central Virginia.  Standing 6'2 and weighing a solid 235 lbs., Midulla looks like the prototypical "Penn State" linebacker.  Midulla plays with passion, and he has a desire to become the best at whatever he is involved in.  He has good speed (4.7 forty) and strength (330 bench) and has a tremendous upside.  He will project as a MLB or strongside DE depending on the defensive alignment his future college runs.  Midulla also shows good leadership on and off the field.  He is a team captain and a 3.5 student in the classroom.//////
