Looks like Coach Loose is at it again. To be able to get Patrick and Michael from a good 6A Winter Park program is a credit to the ability he has to funnel  Florida kids to College Hill. Great job coach.

5'9", 195 RB with 4.71 speed from Winter Park HS in Orlando, FL.  He blossomed as a senior.  His brother is at Colgate.

1-star rated by Scout; not rated by Rivals.

Could be a "find" if the late bloomer tag caused a lot of schools to pass on him and if progress continues.

Looks a bit like Mo White did in earlier years, with perhaps a bit more speed.

I watched Patrick in all 14 games he played this year. This kid is amazing and should have went to a FBS school. he was ranked 31 in the central florida top 100 and selected 2nd team 6A all state with kids who all went D1-a. He is much faster than his scout.com time of 4.71. He has legit 4.4 speed. Keep in mind he is from florida which has nothing but speed demons and has the best level of highschool football competition in the nation. He is a game breaker who was a definite steal for any fcs team. He will be an immediate impact type of player.

I like what I'm hearing (and watching)...  Very Happy

I don't make a habit of getting excited about incoming recruits---but this kid DEFINITELY has a "wow" factor. Like the Winterpark Fan said--he's not blowing by low-level teams there.

40 times are the biggest joke out there. I remember reading once in Sports Illustrated that if you believed the published 40 times half of the skill-position players in major college football would be world-class track athletes--and that Nebraskas secondary would win an Olympic relay gold.

He did have decent blocking though...Gotta make sure he has the same support in Easton.

I share you guys' excitement for this player. If the 190 lbs figure is accurate and he's anywhere near 4.4, well, I cant wait to watch him.  The video as Dave says, speaks for itself.  The RB recruits should be pretty happy about the OL class coming in with them and confident in the coach developing those OLmen.

This kid is going to be a blast to watch. Methinks we may be looking at the next big PL running back. As for blocking...I have every confidence he will have the best blocking the league has to offer. The only question remains is how well the new QB does. No small question.

Winterpark fan, thanks for the input.   You know ALL Lafayette games are available on the internet via All Access for a nominal fee and sometimes for free on channelsurfing.  I would think that's an attractive feature for out-of-area fans of these kids.

For the past few years, primarily due to injuries to the top TB, it's been pretty much running back by committee. Only one member of "the committee", a junior (a very good one but not an every down back), returns.  While Coach T (like most coaches) doesnt like to rely on the input from freshmen, preferring to give them time to settle in emotionally and academically, the last few instances of significant  freshman participation that I recall has been at the RB position--Joe McCourt and this rising junior, Rudolph.  So, there is opportunity for Patrick and Marcellus who join last years trio of recruits.  This competition for PT at the tailback position will be an area of focus for us fans this spring and in the fall camp.  Your post certainly adds to the anticipation.

The origonator of that quote ended up on the winning side... coming from a Colgate mouth, do we really expect anything different?

I'm wondering if the loss of Mputu and the emergence of Roberts at CB might have Frank reconsidering the move of incoming recruit Matt Smalley from RB to CB. He rushed for just shy of 1000 yds as a HS sr and recently repeated as Philly Catholic League champ in the 100 & 200m.

5'10, 175, did not blow the top off the record books in high school, and the coaches moved him to DB before he set foot on campus.  Do you really think we're talking about Erik Marsh II here?  How much difference can it possibly make other than increasing the total number of tailbacks from 5 to 6?  Face it, with Mputu gone, we're looking at Scheuerman and a lot of average.

Me too... off the roster doesn't mean out of school, though the timing would lead one to think...

In school, out of school, not my concern. Just that he is apparently no longer a Lafayette football player.  Nor is Grant, who was among those originally suspended with Patrick.

Reinhard told us in his blog on 4/21- "Coach T said earlier in the week that Pat Mputu had hit another wall in his bid to come back.... apparently lessons learned do not come easily for him. Stay tuned."

"Stay tuned" has turned into off the roster.
