After the men made their more or less expected early exit from the playoffs, this is our last hope. The 3-seed (Lehigh) vs. the 6-seed (Lafayette) is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 PM on Saturday evening at West Point.
Some basics:
Lehigh, 17-12, 9-5 in the Patriot League
Lafayette, 14-15, 6-8 in the Patriot League
Lafayette won the 1st game in Easton, 48-43, and moved into 1st place. Vanessa Van De Venter led all scorers with 17 and LaKeisha Wright added 16 in a very unbalanced Lafayette offense. Tricia Smith was the only Lehigh player in double figures with 12. Lehigh won the battle of the boards with a decisive 35-22 advantage.
The Pards put an exclamation point on their season sweep of Lehigh by beating the Squawks in Bethlehem by a commanding 59-43 score. Three Leopards were in double figures, led by LaKeisha Wright's 14. Vanessa Van De Venter and Cristin Zavocki each scored 11. Again, Lehigh had only one player in double figures as freshman Erica Prosser scored 10. The Pards tallied a narrow 31-28 advantage in rebounding.
The 43 points scored by Lehigh in each game represent their lowest offensive production of the season.
It is difficult to beat the same team three times in a season, but the record shows that this is a winnable game.

have you guys listened to the interview on goleopards.com?
An unguarded and likeable Tammy offers some interesting, revealing and amusing thoughts. It goes something like this:
Tammy--.....you know they're gonna come ready to play. Because it is the Lafayette-Lehigh rivalry, they try to outsmart us, and, you know, they try to throw a lot of different things at us, you know, like they did the last time we played them down at their place. You know, Spicer would come in on a time out and say 'Coach, when we call a man offense out, they're running a ZONE," and we're like, 'oh my God.' So then we're, you know, we'd switch it up at halftime and like 'OK well' you know, 'now let's catch 'em', we'll, you know, 'if I call a man, let's run a zone.' You know, just kinda gettin' caught up in their little scheme, and then they changed it, so, I mean, they were more confused than what we were. So, who knows, they might just play a regular old basketball game and play at both ends of the court. But we'll be ready for it which either way they choose to do it."
Funny. Anyway, we've got our tickets. They advised the seats will be all general admission.
