Sunday will be senior day for our two seniors, Nick Lindner and Monty Boykins.

Nick Lindner stepped in at point guard as a freshman replacing Tony Johnson. Best known for his penetration as a freshman, he developed his game as a great passer and a three point shooter. He was the Patriot League Tournament MVP in 2015 versus American and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Our other senior is Monty Boykins, a power forward. Boykins was injured in the opening game versus Villanova in the 2016-17 season. His shoulder injury has prevented him from playing since the opening game.

While it appears that Boykins would have another year of eligibility at Lafayette, that will not be the case as Boykins has accomplished two Majors during his time here.  For some unknown college policy, Boykins will not get another year of eligibility. The coaching staff is working with Monty to find a school for him for next season.

Monty is a power forward?  Well maybe that has been the problem the past four years. Fran has been playing him out of position.

Do you watch the games, XBO?  Monty is a shooting guard and occasionally a small forward.

Army came back from 25 down to beat Navy by 3 at Annapolis. That puts extra pressure on Lafayette in the Battle of the Bus. It also raises issues about Navy's coaching.

Army 5-11, two games left:
Versus No. 2 Boston
At No. 4 Lehigh

Lafayette 4-11:
Versus No. 4 Lehigh
At No. 1 Bucknell
At Colgate, T6

American, 3-12
Versus Holy Cross, T6
At No. 3 Navy
At No. 4 Lehigh

Army seized the opportunity and we are alone in ninth place right now.
I just got back from a couple days in the Hudson Valley and got to see the beautiful AWP campus from across the river in Cold Spring. It's always a thrilling sight and the 67-degree weather made it better.

Lehigh would tie Navy for third with a win tomorrow, and Lehigh swept Bucknell while Navy is 0-1 versus the Bison.
No. 2 Boston swept Lehigh and split with Navy.

But The Battle for Eighth: that's the Main Event.

Current top team Bucknell swept Army and is 1-0 versus Lafayette.
No. 2 Boston swept Lafayette and is 1-0 versus Army, needing OT to get that win.

So if Army and Lafayette wind up tied for eighth, and American is 10th ...
Lafayette and Army split the season series.
If the Bucky Balls are No. 1, and Boston is No. 2, Lafayette would come
Out ahead with a theoretical win in Lewisburg. If Lafayette loses, Army could prevail with a win versus Boston.
If Lafayette and Army are both swept by the BU teams,
Then if Lehigh is No. 3 that could also be a pass. Lehigh is 1-0 against both and with a double sweep or 1-1 season series with both, the tiebreaker goes to No. 4 ? Navy (or Lehigh).
USNA swept Lafayette and Army.
So this could go to record against No. 5 which could be any of four or five teams.
Beat Lehigh!
Lagavullin is on me.

Indeed.
Between a few drinks and my own bad prognostication skills, I contradicted the comment I had made just before.
A win today would keep Lafayette in the hunt and provide a potential tiebreaker.

Yeah, I think the only way to finish eighth is to win one more game than the Knights. The tiebreakers would seem to favor them. An 8/9 game at Christl seems likely.

You aren't the only one drinking. XBO thinks Monty is a power forward.

Yes. "Out of position" indeed.
Army has two tough games left. Lafayette has a shot today just because it's Lehigh but despite Reed's proclivities it's a long shot.
Then Stojka. An win at Colgate then probably wouldn't help.
That's assuming American takes No. 10.
So if Army and Lafayette lose all games, Army is No. 8.
If Army loses both and Lafayette loses two then beats Colgate, the tiebreaker will go to Army based on Navy, probably No. 3 or 4.
I think. Play ball!

PS: an interesting item on Army's win.

Pards have some catching up to do at the half, but those "President's Challenge" videos were awesome.

We're on the wrong end of a men vs. boys fight.

Just down 21. Got'em right where we want'em.
Down 23.
Toss up some threes.
If FOH survives "The Study" it will have been a farce.
Lafayette isn't competing in recruiting.
Lafayette isn't competing on the floor.
Lafayette is embarrassing and boring to watch.
This team can't play.

It was one thing when we had men versus boys situations against the likes of Seton Hall. That was bad.
This is against a league team. Again and again and again.
Please don't allow this coaching staff to throw more $250,000 Golden Tickets to guys who can't compete. This is D1 scholarship basketball.
Though one wouldn't know it.
Last Amateurs, indeed. We still are!

You're set. Lehigh feels sorry for us. Lafayette will stay within 25.

I'm looking forward to a thought-provoking incisive interview after this debacle.

Pity from Bethlehem also helped me cover the football game.

Down by 31, and somehow surged to get within 26.

It's a triumph of the human spirit.

81-55.

It's a damn shame that Lindner's teammates with one exception can't / won't / or don't want to compete.

These "scholarships" aren't exactly "two dental mirrors and a bottle of ex..pectorant." What are we getting in return for all this dough?
