OK...

Bill Best, Dan Magner, Kathy Jeremiah, Wayne Miller and now Mick Statham. A program record of 95-193-17 and a current record of 1-6-2-with Statham in his third year.

Any success this program has ever had rests almost exclusively on the talent of two undersized girls from Hershey (Heidi Caruso and Emily Myers).

I realize there are a lot of underclassmen playing on this team--but year 3 is where you hope to see a turnaround.

I've watched a few games over time---I like how Statham coaches--we're just outclassed too much of the time. I like the attitude he brings. We can't just keep bringing in coaches.

Is there a funding problem with this sport?

That's an excellent question. Stratham is hard working and brought that ethic to the field and practices. This situation was a disaster and it may take one more year to see daylight. There are lots of sophs and frosh getting playing time and except for one game they have been competitive so far. I  like this coach.

I don't think its a funding problem. I think you answered your own question - its a talent problem.

There are not enough talented players and those that are, are scooped up by the major programs. When Heidi and Emily played, they scored and we won.

We have no scorers. Going into Sunday's game, we had been shut out 5 times and scored 1 goal and 2 goals in the ties. BTW, St Peters has scored just one goal this season.

Oh I'm definitely in the "Statham Camp." I liked his mission statement and I can tell the young women are working hard.

But why can't we get higher level players--like X said? We have a pretty nice facility...A pretty nice school...A pretty good area to recruit from...I never understood why this program couldn't get legs (pardon the pun.)

A friend asked me if I wanted to go up to the womens soccer game this afternoon. Since it was a nice day, I agree to go along. Unfortunately, it turned out to be an unpleasant experience as the team lost again 4-1 to Bucknell. The highlight of the day, perhaps season, was that the team scored a goal. That was their first goal in seven games.

When I got home, I looked up their record over the last 4 years. Its not pretty:

2005 4-12-0  0-7-0 in PL play
Did not score in 10 games, only 1 goal in PL games

2006 2-11-4  0-6-1 in PL games
Did not score in 10 games, 4 goals in PL games

2007 5-9-2   1-5-5 in PL games
Did not score in 9 games, 4 goals in PL games

2008 3-13-2   0-6-0 in PL games
Did not score in 12 games, 1 goal on PL games
One game remaining at Holy Cross

So my question is, should we drop womens soccer and allocate those resources to other womens sports?  Maybe Rugby, Rowing, Golf, Bowling?

I don't know if you were serious but none of sports you mentioned are intercollegiate sports at Lafayette  except golf and the numbers aren't large enough to make us compliant with Title IX. I still like this coach and maybe there is a funding problem.
Given its not that, I'd still give him another two years given the youth of the team. Winning is an attitude and maybe the schedule (outside of the PL games) should get a close scrub until we turn it around. This is tough!!

A question.    Does LC give any scholarship money for women's soccer?    Or is it just FH and men's soccer?
