"Patriot League ShootAround" from ESPN

The Pards "might be in for a tough season" according to this guy at ESPN:

I don't think anybody is expecting us to equal last years record. After all, we lost 6 seniors who carried the bulk of the load. This is the real start of rebuilding the program with scholarship players.

We have one senior, Andrew Brown and three juniors, Jeff Kari, Mike Gruner, and Marek Koulton. Throw in 3 sophmores (not counting on Visockas) and 6 freshman and what you have is lack of experience. It will be a season of mistakes and learning. A season of getting better as the season goes on.

I know Coach O likes this years freshman. They have a lot of potential. But it's a tough early schedule, with 6 of 9 games on the road, and as we saw last year a much improved league from the bottom up. I'm looking for 8-10 wins.

We hae also learned unless you get really lucky it really takes three classes to get our act  together. The first year was a throw away year since we got scholarships very late in the recruiting season. The second year was better but we were in essence recruiting two classes at the same time since most Div 1 recruiting occurs in the HS juniior year. This year's frosh should be pretty good but they will need seasoning and I expect they will get plenty of playing time.  It should be entertaining seeing raw talent get better as the playoffs approach.
I don't have a feel for the women but my gut tells me it'll be much the same.

Need to hear from the more knowledgeable folks on this subject, but, calendar and actual time lapse since hoops scholarships were approved notwithstanding, my gut tells me that this year's freshman class is year one of this three year count.  We should therefore be actually looking at something competitive in two years.

I think that last sentence deserves an "or else."

Bucknell's new coach already has commitments from two kids over 6-8 for next year.  Anyone know how we're doing?
