2013 commits

Hard Work Pays off for Lutz!

Rivals junior forward Ashley Lutz has committed to Lafayette College for the 2013-2014 season. Lutz became the second rival in the class of 2013 to accept a Division One Scholarship. The 6’1 forward’s skill package was on display in this spring’s viewing period, and her stock rose significantly .
The 6-foot-1 Lutz was a huge force this season for the Lincoln Sudbury Warriors, who advanced to the Division 1 North semifinals. A big part of the run was Lutz's play in the middle, leading the team in scoring (13 points) and rebounding (11). She also shot 83 percent from the free throw line, 45 percent from the field, and 35 percent from three-point range.

Lutz was named a Dual County League All-Star, and also to ESPN Boston's MIAA All-State Team, for her efforts this season. She has been named a captain for the 2012-13 season.

Lutz was in town this past weekend, along with Snow and O'Hare, for the womens elite camp.

This was the first I've seen Snow and I was impressed with her ability to take it to the basket and be able to score with either hand. Looks like she will be a 2, she has a decent shot from the perimeter, including beyond the arc. She's a very aggressive player both on O and D. She may have to tone it down a bit on the D end to stay on the court. She'll definitely get playing time

Also the first I've seen O'Hare. The girl can handle. She pushes it up the court and is a pass first PG.  Got the ball inside with a lot of no look passes. I didn't get a good read on her defensively but she knows the game. She may end up being our starting PG.

I didn't spend much time watching Lutz but it looked like the up and down pickup games may not be her style. She's got good size for a 6'1' player. She took some outside shots but was off with her touch. That may be due to the pace of the game. She did battle for rebounds the few times I saw her under the basket.

OK, X.   How 'bout Hayes?  Do you sense any concern by the staff re her knee?

Hayes wasn't at the camp so I've only seen video of her. I did see her at a home game with her father and mother. Seemed to be about 6'1", solid body. Very athletic on the video. With her father being an NFL coach, I'm sure she's getting great advice on her rehab. I think she's worth a shot and hope for the best.
