2014-15 Begins

I missed the Midnight madness festivities. I assume we've started practice, or, will today?

Probably started awhile ago.   Under NCAA rules, they could have started about October 3rd - as long as they only practice 30 days out of the 42 days prior to the first game.

Does Bucknell or anyone else in the PL have Midnight Maddness?

I know HC doesn't anymore. In general I think it's been phased/played out due to practices being moved back before October 15th now.

Any word on practice, scrimmages, who looks good, bad, surprising?

Very Happy Hope Boykins is able to get back soon.  He showed glimpses of promise last year.    Heard Seth and Joey did not play against Columbia and we still won.                   GO PARDS!!!!!

I guess a "win" is nice, but nothing is more irrelevant than a scrimmage result.  Teams try all different combinations and work on all sorts of things. One team may have their first team play extended minutes while the other team goes deep into their bench.  Also they often don't follow regular rules and may play extra quarters.  Also they frequently have periods where teams work on presses, press break, unusual zones, etc.  Also no official score is kept, so sometimes both teams claim they won.   And sometimes they are both right.    Who is the winner if one team leads after 40 minutes of play but then they play two more 10 minute quarters and then the other team leads after 60 minutes?

Your comment reminds me of money-flow adherents. But yes these preseason things are meaningless except when Lemoyne and such beat Syracuse.

Even LeMoyne's win would have been meaningless had it been in a closed-door scrimmage, where there they don't follow regular rules and don't keep score.   It was a bit more meaningful, however, since it happened in an exhibition game - which actually is public and follows basketball rules and has a scoreboard and stats.  Syracuse went on to win 30 games that year, so losing a game that didn't count on their record didn't seem to affect them much.

Why did they not participate?
