Forget about 2016, what about 2015. The WBB roster shows the addition of only two players, both guards. We have only three front court players on the roster, one of whom rarely played last season. Our new coach certainly has her work cut out for herself.
Ransom Stoddard

Supposedly some Canadian post player has committed for WBB 2015, but it has not been announced yet - not sure if there is an issue there or not.  Also, there is talk about walk-ons as the Coach Grentz hiring has generated very positive vibes out there.

It was PardFan who reported back in January that admissions staff member Guy MacDonald stated that a 6'5" Canadian had signed.

The 2015 admission/recruiting cycle is finished. Either the Canadian is coming or not. If she's coming then she should be on the updated roster. She's not. As to walk-ons, the PL has progressed from the days where they might matter. Let's face it, if our new coach can turn this situation around she'll have to be a miracle worker.

This will take time. I would not expect an impact on recruiting until at least next year and maybe two years out, especially as early as kids commit today.

If what you say is true, that means we have just 2 recruits coming in: Holland and Cantwell. Since we graduated 4 scholarship players and only recruited 2 for this year, we would have 5 available for the class of 2016.  And, if what Stoddard is saying about walkons is true, it sounds like there is nothing worth pursuing for 2015. So it looks like she will be using a short bench this year and use the walkons to fill out the roster and use them in practice.

That would raise the question, do you recruit 5 next year and hope that jumpstarts the program?  Or, will the unbalance scholarships put the program in an up and down situation over the long term?

1.   Lots of schools have yet to update their roster for spring signees, especially if they are still seeking to add more players.

2.  In recent years, several PL preferred walk-ons have made significant contributions in basketball.   For example, AU's Charlie Jones, a walk-on, started every PL game this year for AU and averaged almost 36 mpg.   Bucknell had a key walk-on on their 2013 championship team.  (They also started a preferred walk-on on their great teams from 2004-07.) LC has also had significant preferred walk-on contributors on the men's side - Gruner and Delaney, I believe.    There have also been preferred walk-ons on various PL women's teams who were contributors.

Not too worry LC Fan we brought  Stefan Ciosici on board 2 weeks after the first semester started. There's a little more red tape with foreign players. Coach Grentz knows how the system works.

There's not too much red tape these days.    Bucknell has had a few foreign players in recent years and it only took a few weeks to get everything in place.    I suspect she is signed and on board but that LC is just delaying the press release until they are sure there won't be any other signees.

One left to reach 12. However, Xbo was voicing the other night that Fran might hold off on the fourth to even out the classes. Don't know if this was an informed opinion. Somewhat supporting that idea is the fact that Fran has signed a player at all 3 of the positions offered - SG, SF, PF. Offers are outstanding to 2017 PGs, none made to any 2016s. So looking for a 4 year starter in 2017 class.

The initial press release on LC's going ahead with scholarships left no doubt the # was 3 per year up to 12. I can't confirm that that's still the policy. However, Barlow was signed after it was announced that Hoffman was transferring, so maybe 1 for 1 replacement, making 12.
adcs2

Yeah Pards only have 12. JO and BM are not on scholarship.
bison137

Last year's roster had 13 who were said to be scholarship players in various press releases:

Hinrichs
Trist
Ptaskinski
Flannigan
Freeland
Musters
Rufer
Scott
Lindner
Hoffman
Boykins
Stafford
Klinewski
Lafalum

It could be one of those was actually need based but since they were recruited would fall under the NCAA limit of 13

Any idea where we stand with his class of 17 teammate Sam Iorio.  Sam appears to be just as good as Kyle, if not better.

Looks like Iorio has offers from Lafayette, Lehigh, Boston and Bing at the moment.  One site lists him as a "high major" prospect, although he doesn't appear to hold an offer from a program of this category at the moment (despite what Lehigh fan's may say).

Stout can play 2 or 3
Iorio is a 3 or 4, but, can step out and hit 3's. (of course he can, or why would FOH even look at him?) I agree he'd be a great get. He can rebound.

Well 2 PG offers are outstanding for 2017. The love may not be being returned as another has tweeted he has begun to receive interest from us.
NewXbo

Stout, Iorio, D. Kachelries as well as Cross attended many games last season.

Cross has elected to play football as he was given the opportunity to tryout at QB.

Kachelries would fit our system immediately. Great penetrater, great passer, very quick.

Iorio would be another Seth Hinnrichs.  He upped his game the second half of the season with more inside scoring and rebounding. My concern is that his father thinks he could play at a much higher level. Maybe he could but I don't think he would get nearly as minutes.

So, coming off a 3-15 PL season we're going with 10, possibly 11 depending on Jarret's status, scholarship players?  Seems an odd way to go about things, but what do I know?  Bucknell will be playing with thirteen.

I guess we're then set for a large class of as many as 4 in 2017. Fran has 15 outstanding offers (per verbalcommits.com), no commits.

Lehigh has signed a 3* transfer out of East Carolina named Lance Tejada. Will have to sit a year.  He was a communications majot at ECU.  Our last transfer was Sean Knitter, I believe (?), 2002.

The good news is that Tejada would not be a 3 star based on his mediocre play as a backup PG at ECU.   Perhaps he will improve after sitting out.  Only time will tell.

I believe the last LC transfer was actually Jeff Kari, who coincidentally also transferred from ECU.   Kari, as you know, played major minutes and started the majority of games from 2008-10.

The two that just left were not going to get PT this year and if they are still chasing the dream I don't fault them at all.  That's going to happen with walk-ons.   More concerned about kids like Barlow, Hoffman and Dunkum and the fact that we seemingly keep recruiting (or signing) the same kids we got in pre scholarship era.  It just feels like FOH has never adapted to having free rides to give out.

I thought Newman was also a walk-on.   If not, then FOH managed to carry 14 scholarship players in 2015.
