We took control of the game at the 7:17 mark of the first half on a driving layup by Jeff Kari outscoring the Hawks 16-7 to end the half up by 10. We grew it to 20 in the first 5 minutes of the second half and coasted home from there.
We were much more aggressive on the boards and in the paint, outscoring the hawks 36-26 in the paint and outrebounding them 39-32. Nice games by Detmer: 11 points 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks as well as Abdullah: 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists. Also a nice job by Kari off the bench in getting to the hoop.
Good job defensively on Hall who shot 3 of 14. Our inside game produced two early fouls on White who played only 8 minutes in the first half.

Looked like a great crowd. Wish I could have been there. Attendance listed as 3,498 vs. capacity of 3,500. Just where were those two empty seats?
Good ball movement. Took off their concrete sneakers for the first time in a while.
Once they got the Squawks out of their half court game and forced them to start moving, a lot of back doors and drives to the basket. An inside game? Try "only" 8 3s (of eighteen) (low makes and attempts for this team) AND outrebounded the FeatherHeads 39-32.
Good effort, but strange. Same intensity as the run in the first half of the season, but not the same "shoot the 3" attitude.
They need a win at Army on Wednesday to have a solid shot at a home playoff game.

Noticed the same re: inside/outside mix yesterday. Everest gave us a nice start to that - not sure if Fran just went with it, seeing weehigh was looking to stop the 3 first, and the middle was open or if that was the game plan from the start. If it was the game plan thats the difference between a 13 yr head coach and a rookie. Maybe that gives Army and AU something to think about, as we need to take at least one of those games to have the first round at Kirby.
Yesterday was a huge gut check led by 5 Seniors - lets see if we can build on it, get our 3pt shooting back, hit a few more free throws and hit the boards like today - could be fun if we do.

It was a full house (if you count the cheerleaders, dance team, pep band and all the other college people standing around I guess it was 3,500) A nice crowd for Sr day and rivalry game. Good ball movement, good defense, same poor PL officiating (both for and against LC) The double foul on Schmidt was a real doozie! How can you call a personal on two players after play has stopped? I watched the replay yesterday and Carrington should have been T'd up not given a personal foul. We NEED a win at Army and see what happens after that. The entire league must be looking over the tie breaker rules. Teams could possibly play an away game to start the playoffs and then have home games! What a year?
