A Great Day To Be A Leopard Fan, Part 2

Coach showed her displeasure with the teams slow starts by starting a new five: Mo Johnson, Val Gomez, Megan Malone, Liz Smith, and Brooke Niquette. They responded with an engerized 4+ minutes. There energy carried over when the usual starters entered the game.

Keisha Wright was too much to handle in the early going, scoring often in the paint. The team lapsed into their weave outside the arc a couple of times but it may have been the result of fatigue and they returned to attacking the basket. Their aggressive play resulted in 59 points, the most we scored since the game at BU back on 1/23.

We did a good job on the defensive end again on the Hawks, this time holding them to 43 after allowing only 45 at Kirby. Although the next two games are against probably the best two teams in the league, if we play with the same determination an energy as we did today, we will be in both games.

Just when you start counting, these women get up and start swinging--that's what I love about this team. As big (literally and figuratively) of a homer I am---I didn't have them beating Lehigh in Bethlehem in my best of scenarios--that's a HUGE win.

I feel like I'm an extra in the movie Hoosiers when I go to games--every expert in the stands is yelling "SHOOT IT"  when we cross half court. It can be Wright holding the ball from 30 feet away or Zavocki surrounded by 3 defenders with 20 seconds left on the shot clock...all I hear is "SHOOT IT!"

We are at our best when we run our offense (and we go through our offensive sets very fast--I'll bet any opposing team will tell you we're a censored to defend) and wait for the seams. We play "our game" I think we'll put a serious wrench in things over the next few days.

Geez Maroon, you are like a human windshield wiper. You swing from side to side after every loss or win.

I don't know about that. The Bucknell loss was the only one that really blew me away---not because we lost as much as the way we lost. Up until then I was almost certain we'd reach my hope of them going 8-6 in the league. Then all of a sudden we pull of a HUGE win at Lehigh--and no I wouldn't have predicted it.

My shifting is no worse than the fans for any other sport--I just seem to be one of the very few posters on this team. My support hasn't wavered. Sometimes my outlook has. I had us winning 17 at one point and I really believed it---but we get these last 2 and this will be one heck of a good season. We lose them both---I don't know.

And remember. My profile and picture are in plain view for all to see. Match me on that and I might listen to you (or anyone elses) criticisms of my posts.
