Amanda Magadan makes the next step

Amanda played in selection tournament for US under 21 team and was selected for US Camp this week!

Pretty good. Lots of players at that camp as one would expect for a tryout-scrimmage. Her team finished second. How did she do?

Have we had a FH Olympian?

She scored one goal during the 4 days and had an assist. ( About 80 players were in the tryouts) She has been invited to the US team camp which convenes tomorrow and lasts I think until the 3rd of July. ( About 27 players got invited) Final selections will be at the camp. If selected she would play for the US at the Pan  AM games next spring.
Amazing she is only a Junior! We have never had a FH Olympian!! In any case she is establishing herself as one of the better players in Division one.

Pretty awesome. Any word? Press release from July 3 says she was selected to the Junior National Camp U-21 but that sounds like what you described.

If Monmouth can have a player on the women's world cup winner why can't we have an Olympian?

Part of the way there.  She was just announced for the 2015-16 U21 squad.

I missed that..thank you. She is at least in the first 17 and 5 more will be picked for the final squad of 22. A terrific accomplishment!!!

She was also a very good softball player. Maybe dhe should play softball also.

Amanda….. but  understood!!

Very cool. Congrats Amanda.  So does this mean she is in the PanAm games?  Is this the defacto JV squad for the US national team?

It means she probably is, Having been picked in the top 17. I think your metaphor is apt it being the JV squad. If you look at the ages of the national squad a more realistic comparison might be triple A baseball, however more selective. But she is on her way!! I don't know what her ultimate goals are, she is a bio major and her mother is a doctor so…….

But in any case Lafayette has one of the top players in all of division one…and she is Junior.

In a press release by the national field hockey assn Amanda makes the final cut  for the Junior Pan Am team. They will be playing Great Britain's under 21 team in December at Spook Nook in Pa. before the Pan Am Games. It is a qualifier for the Junior World Cup the following fall.

Now can we turn this asset to our advantage and win the Patriot League ?? First game this sunday, we need lots of goals!!! Not that we don't have a terrific goalie. Come Ladies make this your year!!!

Congratulations to her.   Bucknell had a player (Victoria Resh) on this team four years ago, and she had a great experience.  Junior Pan Am Games were played in 2012 in Mexico, and the U.S. team finished 3rd.   Most of the team had stomach problems during the latter part of it.  BTW, if the timing was the same as in 2012, it would mean that Amanda would miss two weeks of games next year.  However I think the 2016 version may be in the summer.

The Junior Pan Am games are always played the year following the regular Pan Am games, which were held in Toronto last month.

Just checked Junior Pan Am games are in March and Junior World Cup in November. Whew, should not interfere with the college season.

When in November? PL playoffs are in early November with NCAAs to follow

I think the Junior Hockey World Cup is December 1-11, 2016, in New Delhi.
