Another failing program

Last night was the dedication of the recently $5.6 million remodeled  "Weinstein Natatorium" and the once every two years swim meet held in the new facility.  The opponent was Lehigh and there was a standing room only crowd. There was also a Bill Lawson Memorial Sportsmanship Award presented annually to an individual from each team, yada, yada, yada.

Sports Information did not include a write up in this morning's email, perhaps because  our performance was so bad. I left at half time and we had only 2 second place finished out of 7 events on the women's side and 2 seconds on the men's side.  There were no scores posted on the new scoreboard.

The next home event will be Lehigh in 2 years,

What a waste of money.

According to the LU football broadcast, we got destoyed. Lost every event on the women's event and the men's was equally as bad. HELLO!!!!! It is NCAA D-1 sports! Not an intermurral game where we all get participation trophies.
aerodomer

For a fraction of the renovation cost, we could have had a couple of scholarship equivalents for each team, for each year.  We'd at least be competitive with Lehigh.  As it is, once again, we get crunched by a scholarship team.  My swimmer, who was on the team and recently graduated, agrees that it's a nice facility, but also agrees that even a few partial scholarships would help more.  We'll never win the league, but we wouldn't look like a DIII team either.
