Any Predictions?

There is no prediction in this commentary (although if the Pards go one game over/under .500 I wouldn't be terribly surprised), but my crystal ball says

We will be favored in 3 games:
Georgetown
Columbia (don't bet the ranch on this one, though)
Bucknell

We will be underdogs in 5:
Liberty
Penn (Frank will have to play all 60 minutes this year instead of last year's 30)
Harvard (the last win against the Johns was 1996, and we're beginning to lose contact with them)
Colgate (someone please explain to me why we can't ever beat these guys)
Holy Cross (eminently beatable!)

The remaining 3 are toss ups from this early and distant vantage point:
Yale (we've never beaten them - and it's up there)
Fordham (totally unpredictable)
Lehigh (as 2008 points out, there isn't a Squawker on the planet that doesn't already have this one firmly in their win column)

7-4 would be a very nice year with this schedule.

My notes were about the same, except calling us underdogs at Yale, and Penn a toss-up, with my math putting us at 5-6 and 3-3.

Bye week. JV at Muhlenberg Col Sunday at 2, I think. Not sure if game or scrimmage format. Plenty of time for crystal balls before the first snap at G'town.

Is this definite?
Newleopardfan

It's listed on the Muhlenberg website. I'd say it's definite. I just don't know the format.

The picks:

G'town - W
Liberty - L
Penn - L
Yale - W
Columbia - W
Harvard - L
Fordham - W
Bucknell - W
Colgate - L
Holy Cross - W
Lehigh - W

7-4, 5-1.  We lose the auto-bid to Colgate in a tie-breaker.

Twenty-eight, thats the magic number. If we score 28 or more points we will win at least 9 games. Our defense will again be the strength of the team.

I'll say 9-2, 5-1 in league play. Expect a significant dropoff next year.

Agreed on that last point.  We appear to be approaching the end of an era.

I would agree...assuming of course that this whole year, league wide, plays out in a vacuum. That is to say no one on our team gets any better. Everyone remains exactly the same. None of the underclassmen who we were all once so high on rise to the challenge. And the same goes for all of the other teams in the league. Nobody gets better, no body gets worse. People don't step up nor do people get hurt, not meet expectations, etc. If all of this occurs I think we can safely say the era of success at Lafayette is over. In fact, based on these conditions let's just hand this and every season to Colgate or HC. Lord knows the conditions they operate under are vastly different then ours. It'll be like an episode of Star Trek and Ground Hog Day collide. Cool.

Wow this should be an interesting year. I think I may go up to New Haven..Im thinking of seeing Liberty or Penn, but not both. Which one would you recommend? Of course I will be attending my 29th Lehigh game with my Leopard.

Liberty all the way! Will be playing Penn forever and all time. I think we have seen the last of Liberty on our schedule. That's my opinion.

94 makes a valid argument.  See you on the 19th vs. the Flames and in New Haven.

Where do u usually sit Carney? I dont think I will have trouble finding you for a non Lehigh game. Course last year I had the ticket that was right in front of you! I think I will do Liberty as much as I love to see Penn quashed - but the Leopards did do that quite nicely last year and I was there...

Same place, I think.  Until the rest of you complain, Charissa will continue to get me into the stadium.

I'd give coordinates, but my enemies are everywhere.

Ah ha. carney2 is contibuting to the Pards financial problems by sneaking in.

I'm shocked...cranky and cheap!!
Pards Rule

No, actually called LU tix office and - yes - you can get Game tix BUT you have to purchase the "package" for $50...Seems the same on LC site.

I have been fighting this battle since June.  The official word from Lafayette is, and continues to be, "if available,"* and you apparently must purchase one of the season ticket plans to get even that far.

My (conspiracy) theory is (since I don't ever recall this happening before) that we are being "punished."  There was a lot of complaining by Lehigh people last year that Lafayette did not make enough tickets available for them.  This, despite the fact that their allotment was 5,000.  That's an incredible 38% of the 13,132 capacity at Fisher!  Do I smell a little back atcha?

*You automatically get one Lehigh ticket for each season ticket purcased, regardless of plan.  If you want additional tickets however, you will always get the "if available" response.

They advertise online that of you buy the full season tix package you will be guaranteed Lehigh --- at least I thought I saw that

True, BUT that means that you get one ticket to the Lehigh game for each season ticket purchased.  Our earlier correspondent wants tickets to the Lehigh game only - without purchasing season tix - and I am groping for additional tickets to accommodate the folks that travel from hither and yon every year to camp at my house and attend this game.  We both run into the "if available" wall.

There is now a sign on the window of the ticket office saying that Lafayette-Lehigh is SOLD OUT, including student ickets.

Wonder what the E-t will do now that Nick Fierro is at Morning Call doing the Eagles?

Reinhard has a blog today at http://blogs.mcall.com/sports/ in the SPORTSTALK thing. Regular paper does not refer to it.

Going to G'town today? They have that 9/12 march in the city today, but hopefully, things will be well clear by this afternoon.

Man, I'm hoping that means "all tickets have been allocated" and not "none available."  This has always been a tough ticket for latecomers, but I don't ever remember it being a hassle from the get-go like this.

Really looking forward to Laubach and Leone.  They've become family and I forgive them almost everything.
