Ball State and the Panthers

The Ball State SID I guess didn't have the time to look up our mascot. Hey guys its the Leopards its the Leopards. It looks like they are really looking forward to the game with the Scarlet Knights the day before.
Meet the Leopards on Sunday. I hope we make a big unforgettable
impression on their field hockey team!!!

They also imply that Amanda is a senior.  Funny.

They knew that their last game with Rutgers 15 years ago ended in a 4-3 overtime win. I guess they forgot our 5-1 win over them 3 years ago! Can we spell overlook!. Good luck with Rutgers!!

"The Sunday matchup with the Cardinals will be the 2015 season opener for the Panthers. After a 6-11 run, including a 2-5 home record in the 2014 season, Lafayette is set to present six freshmen in the season opener. With six returning seniors, including standout Amanda Magadan who was recently named to the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team, Rutgers is set to bring back many key returning powers, despite losing pivotal scorers."

Heh.  Very Happy

That has to be some of the sloppiest sports information writing ever.  One would conclude that, following a match somewhere against a team called the Panthers, Ball State will play a Rutgers team that features a Rutgers senior named Amanda Magadan.

My question to the Ball State SID - since you point out correctly that Lafayette's athletics web site is "GoLeopards," did it not occur to you that "Panthers" was a bit of a malapropism?

FYI - at the close of last season, Lafayette's RPI was 38th.  Ball State's was 68th.

Plus the PL was much stronger overall than the MAC.  Just sayin' . . .

Way to go, Thers!  Congrats on the win!

Heh.

The Ball State Orioles fall to Rutgers and to Lafayette.  Next they face Villanova, then LaSalle.  Looks like they'll return to Kansas 0-4.

One official was card happy. We played 1/3 of first half short one player and still scored 3 goals.

Still need to clean things up defensively.  Pards need to step up after losing Seybert and Blass.

Yes the defensive turnovers will kill you in the end. We have a great goalie but we need more teamwork back there. We should prevail tonight, but we need to raise our level of defensive intensity which in the end will create opportunities to get to the offensive end and score.
