Baseball @ Navy

David Bednar pitched very well again and lost the game in the last of the 8th 2-1.  Leopards need to hit better.  5 hits in this one and one run.

Unfortunately no-one hits against Luke Gillingham, who might be having the most dominating season of any PL pitcher in history.     Opponents are hitting about .130 against him and his ERA is about 1.00 for the year.

Good point by Bison.  Gillingham is very good.  Bednar is a Soph and deserves a better fate this year.

LC wins Game 2 11-8 so they stay at .500 in the PL pending tomorrow's DH.  The team had their hitting shoes on in this one.

I need to see this Bednar pitch. Kid is getting no run support.

Bednar has been impressive but he nearly always pitches against the ace of the opponent.  I'm going to Easton on the 25th (weather permitting) to see that day's double header against Lehigh.  Bednar should be pitching the first game.

I just discovered that today's game is on CBSSN.

Go Pards!

Yeah pretty cool to have this one on national tv. Go Pards!

If I'm watching this kind of broadcast production for a Lafayette baseball game on live national television, then somebody at the college/league office is doing something right.

GO PARDS

sunday second game (Navy)   no outs   8th inning  behind 8-6 and our team is rallying (two runs in already in the inning) with runners on 1st and 2nd and#3 hitter Woinski  (already 2 for 3) up and you have him sacrifice (bunt) to move the runners to second and third?  What kinda baseball is that?  You could watch Major League games from now until the end of time and--given those circumstances-- never see that happen once.

I think Joe Kinney knows his personnel.  Perhaps he thought Navy wouldn't expect it and/or that Woinski might be able to run it out.  Or maybe he thought lefty Toby Schwartz (who had just thrown a gazillion pitches in the first game) would do better against the Navy RHP Sorenson.  Despite being a Lehigh grad, Kinney always has shown he knows what he's doing.  He gets a lot out of his guys year after year.

Sorry if this is your relative, but he was hitting a dollar eighty eight going into the Navy series.  Sounds like a good call asking him to bunt. Was he successful in advancing the runners?

Tough weekend for baseball.  They lost three games to the excellent pitching staff of the Mids by a total of four runs.  Toby deserved a better fate in Game 1 on Saturday as he gave up only 2 runs in 10 innings.

If this team can hit consistently, they will win their share of PL Games.  Important series with Bison coming up this weekend in Lewisburg.
