Even a cynic like me is impressed. This maybe best class in 4 or 5 years.
The last addition is remarkable in that the young man comes from an excellent program that may produce more from that pipeline. Are we seeing the light at the end of the tunnel??!!

We can hope - although we may take a half step backwards this coming year unless one of the big men step up faster than expected.  Also key to see who we cant hold on to - hopefully no one tranfers out.  But yes its a step fwd - JD's stats from this year are also a brighter light than I had seen previously.  Welcome aboard.

This is Fran's best class.  It wouldn't surprise me if the record next year is a few games worst.  We lose so much and it will take the freshman some time to adjust to the college game.

It remains to be seen just where this incoming class stands among Fran's past classes but, initially, it does appear to be a good group--especially if Pelham turns out to be a workable center.  Certainly Willen and Mower appear to be very good recruits and Moore has seen excellant competition.

But the best recruitted class I can remember was Will Rackley's 1981 or 1982 group and that class fell apart almost before it got it's feet wet.  You just never know.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed.  Still, that 1-8 finish really left a bad taste in my mouth and leads me to question just how much we really lost.  My gut tells me that by February of 2009 we will be no worse off than we were in 2007-2008.

In Fran's earlier years, his teams got better as the season went on. This group seemed to flounder down the stretches. (even though the losses and wins actually were very close this year). Maybe more depth and a ten man rotation will help to keep us from melting down in the end?
The Maroon

IMHO every team Fran has had since around 2001 has had some GLARING holes in respect to the rest of the league. Fran has had relatively few complete players over the years (great shooters who couldn't defend, great rebounders who were 6'4, strong inside players who couldn't shoot... and so on) and has had to do a lot with smoke and mirrors. The 1-8 finish was eerily reminiscent of what happened to Deberry, Farrell et al...in their senior year. No lack of heart, but too much to compensate for.

We have an experienced, solid point guard--that's a great start. I'm not going to set unrealistic expectations, I'll just enjoy the show. But I don't see why we can't be a decent team particularly if everybody stays put.
