Bucknell loss

The organized male lacrosse activity lost today and is 2-11.
I have no doubt that there are players on this team with skill and heart, and players who work hard and try hard. Good guys and good students too.

The results speak for themselves and have for years.

I have no doubt that the coach of this organized sports activity is knowledgeable and hardworking.

However, did this ever happen?

Fourth interview, six years ago:

"Alright coach, you've seen that we have a lot to offer. Tradition, a great school and supportive alumni. Granted, there are challenges and though we hope to provide more support over time, we are a small school and will often be an underdog. Are you ready for this opportunity, this challenge?"

"Yes!"

"Oh, one last thing. Where do you project the team will be in five years?"

"Well, that's hard to say but, maybe 2-12?"

"That's it! You're our guy (extends hand, deal is made)

****What is the point of Lafayette sports? That is the big question. Not zone or man, lefty or righty, run or pass. Will this study identify what Lafayette sports should do for the college?

We have failed in the scholarship era. Our remaining pre-scholarship era coaches should all be removed. All sports need to be reviewed. Almost all coaches should be out. End the bizarro world of Lafayette sports, losing without end and without repercussions, and quarter-million-dollar free rides given to the wrong people. I assumed that would get some attention, but it hasn't.

If we can't compete, give it up. The evidence is strong that we can't.

Somebody, anybody, please step in and do what must be done, whatever that is and with no options off the table, to make Leopard sports relevant again.

Quitting is never an answer.

Wholeheartedly agree - but what we are doing isn't competing either.   We are placing a lot of faith in "the study" hoping it does not turn into "the sham" to outline a path forward.

Sadly, while our program is really struggling (I would say floundering, but promised myself that this year I would be more positive), nationally men's lacrosse is getting more television coverage than ever .  As the popularity of the sport grows, a strong lacrosse program is quickly becoming positive advertising for many academically elite (or at least very strong) schools.

I hope that the committee recognizes the bigger picture regarding competitive athletics.  Good teams = more coverage = higher profile nationally.

Just imagine how pumped we would be if the men were 10-4 and 5-1 in the league.

Go W-Lax, Beat Lehigh!
