Carney Lehigh Noon tomorrow

Just saw it on twitter
Bogus Megapardus

Carney is signing with Lehigh?
RichH

Glad someone got it Laughing

We have needed a true curmudgeon for years but with next season looking to be particularly challenging it was essential that a veteran pessimist be brought in.
Kpard

He is, the best.

List up,  22 kids. Shouldn'ttake you more than a fewminutes to polish this one off. For me very disappointing .Graduating so many seniors and bringing in smallest class I can ever remember

I see this as another confirmation that scholarships will be available with next years recruiting class. Why take a chance on a "potential" when you can get a "sure thing" next year?

Many thanx to Andy Coen and company for keeping the numbers down.  Makes the task a little easier, but "a few minutes" mixes impatience and optimism into a whole new witch's brew.

It is a joy to keep you brewing and stewing Very Happy

I don't understand the logic here. Money spent on this class would not be available for the scholarship pool until 4 years from now. This of course assumes the implementation phases in  25% each year.

Secondly, and I haven't seen this mentioned recently, is that football scholarships, like basketball, are head count scholarships.15 means 1d recruits. There is no spreading of the money. Anything beyond that is going to be competing with the rest of the incoming class for any aid.  Quite honestly, the overall numbers problem might become harder.
RichH

Didn't quite understand your issue. In FCS 63 scholarships can be spread over up to 85 players. Per rules the 85 alsoincludes a recruit getting only need aid if he was "recruited"for football , our presnt  "equivalency". Ivies are exempted from these rules  via  a morass of disingenuous poppycock Shocked

PL historically has taken advantage of some of those rules as well - at least until we started "counting" equivalencies.  Ivy does not count equivalencies.
RichH

Yup we sure did.I do not think we stopped completely voluntarily but a moot point now ( I hope) with scholarships.  Wink

The legal fiction of Ivy recruiting unlikely ever to change. Merit aid will ,I think, even the playing field a bit between PL and IL. Still lose out on most but we'll get a few more each year
