Class of 2018

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette women's basketball head coach Dianne Nolan announced the signing of three student-athletes to the Lafayette Class of 2018. Ellen Graham, Anna Ptasinski and Samantha Stipa will join the 2014-15 team.

Graham is a 6-2 center/forward from Lincoln-Way North High School in Frankfort, Ill. Last season, Graham shot 56 percent from the field, grabbed 172 boards and blocked 53 shots. She is currently serving as team captain for Lincoln-Way North.

Ptasinski, sister of men's basketball junior Joey Ptasinksi, is a 5-10 guard from Highlands Ranch, Colo. During her junior season, she averaged six points and three rebounds per game and shot 90 percent from the free throw line. Her Regis Jesuit team won the 2013 Colorado State Championship, and she is one of six student-athletes from her team to sign with a Division I program.

Stipa is a 5-5 point guard from Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, Pa. She averages 13 points per game, was a finalist for the PIAA AAAA MVP award and was a First Team PIAA AAAA All State selection. Stipa was also named Pottstown Mercury Player of the Year and a member of the District 1 and PIAA AAAA State Champion team.

Good find. We certainly can use an outside shooter next year. We've had brother-brother combos, Todd & Tracey Tripucka and Jack & Ted Detmer, a sister-sister combo, Kelly & Vicki O'Connor and now a brother-sister combo.

Also, thanks for picking up the slack from Andy, his daughter had to help him climb up into the stands. Said he was exhausted from football. At his age I can see how it would be difficult.

Thanks for spotting Matt Klinewski at Saturday's game. Looks like he's sizing up the competition for next year.

Like those that guaranteed a colossal failure in ticket sales for the 150th game, I must humbly insert my foot in my mouth. We need a zonebusting shooter and Ptasinski fits the bill more than anyone in recent memory. No idea how in the world I missed that. Her pedigree alone should have indicated the girl could shoot.

This team has taken a step forward this year - and I definitely think we'll finally be a top-half team next season. I recently discovered Twitter and follow coach Nolan - her tweets alone get you pumped up! I hate that I'm not seeing much of them lately - but two active kids...We've all been there!!

Not that I'm done with this season - but next year looks really solid. We're finally solid at every position - something I haven't seen in 20 years.

Well I hope you are right, but I worry about our inside play next year. We are losing 42% of our rebounds. And although Fiacco hasn't dominated the inside offensively, her presence down on the blocks certainly open things up for Homan.

Anna Ptasinski scored 30 points tonight on 10 for 12 three point shooting.
