Class of 2020

The Mid day recruiting show on goleopards.com was pretty slick. Coach Grentz is awesome! She wants 4.0 students only and size. All these recruits were shooters that are 5-10 or taller. (a couple over 6-0) Wants to put a big team on the floor. After listening to her, I'm ready to run through a wall for her! Hope it translates to the games.

Well, we will have to wait another year but it looks like a good class on paper. Gives us much needed size. The 3 front line players all 6'1" or bigger and a 5'10"G.

Don't you cover Maryland for us, X?  How'd you miss the August announcement of Olivia's commitment? A 3-star player no less. LCLF, take over, please!

I haven't been back to Maryland since last year's men's basketball game. The bunch of hooligans who sit near me swiped a Loyola Maryland sign and I had to drive over someone's lawn to escape Loyola security. Maybe you should assign Utah to me, I'm not on the wanted list there.

I confess to having previously been skeptical about Coach Gerentz based on what I'd seen of her since her appointment. I am being won over. She gave a great performance yesterday and has seemingly gotten a great recruiting class. And she has a plan.In addition she seems to have contacts for a pipeline and to understand how to recruit at a place like Lafayette. There was an awful lot revealed in that short broadcast yesterday. Her excitement was palpable.

New coach - same result. As the adage goes - you can't  fire the players but you can fire the coach. The wheels fell off in Newark, Delaware.Opener a big disappointment. It will take a long time to right this ship.

Lafayette beat UD last year but yes this will take time. This ship hasn't been right in decades.

Disheartening.  After being promised a new approach, this looked a lot like last year, with the starting 5 playing to the exclusion of the bench.  40 of the 58 shots we took were from the 1 and 3 - and they only hit 10 (25%).  The 4 and 5 didn't get enough touches in the post.  We were pretty solid from the beginning until about a minute and a half to go in the first half, when we broke down defensively.  Never seemed to get back in rhythm offensively or defensively after that.  WAY too many turnovers (22 in total, 9 from the point guard alone).  Need better ball movement on offense.  Well, it's just the first game, Delaware did play well, and some of the foul calls on us were complete b.s. (they went to the line 19 times to our 5).  We remain hopeful and positive about this season.  Because I am a man of principle, I refuse to insert any emoticon here, though my last sentence cries out for a smiley face.
