Colgate GameThe Raiders are up by 4 at the half. Lafayette (again) is not getting open looks on the perimeter. I know that American caused this same type of problem for the Pards. Are the defenses catching up and shutting down a hot team or has our offense gotten out of sync?

We tried early on to develop an inside game and Schmidt looked pretty good. We then went to one post player and our three pt shooting continued cold (14 pct in first half) Shot better in the second and had a chance to tie the game with a foul on us beyond the 3 pt line. we made two and missed the last one.
The jig is up...if we can't shoot the three or are sucessfully defended our inside game is NOT strong enough to make defenses repspect it. Navy will be tough. It is now concievable there will be no home games for us in the playoffs.

ColgateI am a little more optimistic than Lafalum as to home games in the PL Tournament.
This was a tough loss. When you lose a game by a point, you can look at so many things...a free throw here or there, a blow call, a rushed shot, etc.
I think having Detmer and his superior post defense on the bench for long stretches in foul trouble really hurt tonight. Abdullah was also mired in fould trouble.
On a positive note, we out-rebounded them and had 14 offensive boards...go figure.
Navy is going to be a tough one because of the problems that Sprink causes.

You have to give Colgate some credit, they did a good job defensively on both Brown (3 for 14) and Abdullah (2 of 11). They also shot the ball well, 52% for the game and 43% from the arc.
We had had more offensive rebounds than they did but they may be a result of our poor shooting and their good shooting. We also did a much better job in the paint, racking up 38 points.
Statistically, the game was pretty even. To me, the difference was they were a little more athletic.
There are no easy games left, every one will be a battle.

Bottom line is--we lplayed just badly enough to lose to a rather poor team. I see no reason for optimism in that.

This team looked like they were running in cement shoes at times. I don't see the same spark or energy level that was in the HC or BU games. Their legs are gone and that reflects in the shooting. It's a long season, are we spent? If this kind of play continues, we'll finish without another win.

Strange, my earlier prognostication was that since our bench is deeper and our top guys rotate in and out frequently with reasonable rest, we would be primed to be consistent and finish strong down the stretch. I guess not. We are in free falling mode. So we have lost 4 of the last 5 after trumping Bucknell? The rest of the season is not looking good... my predictions:
Navy L
Bucknell L
Lehigh W
Army W
American L

I'd agree with you - but look at box score from last night. Fran really shortened the bench - at least in terms of total minutes played. Would add to the look of lead boots.
Not sure if we have just gone cold from 3pt land or teams are just defending it better second time around - or both. Eery flashback to team with Justin D, Winston, Mike and Dill isnt it?
Going 2-3 the rest of the way in almost sounds appealing - and 1 game swing on that would make impact on home playoff or not.

That looks about right, but, I wouldn't put anything in pen. A W against the squawks is a must.
