Come On Fellas

Start getting excited about this team they are putting on quite a show. I was pumped to the nines last night when I got home but it got tempered quickly with the furnace giving us some trouble.

Still..."Vandy" (can I call her that?) scored her thousandth and a whole lot more, Zavocki was "on" from 3 and...here's the kicker: this team actually has a second gear when they need to step it up. They've always played hard--but now they have the ability to crank it one step higher. They are a lot of fun to watch.

I called for Tammy's head. It's on the record and I made what I thought was a pretty obvious observation at the time--but she's gonna have a nice year if this keeps up.

So much more to say--but I gotta get to work!

Very disappointed that RCN/LSN did not carry the game. Does anyone know what the "rules" are for LSN, the Lafayette Sports Network? I guess I'm spoiled with all of the football games and (I thought) all of the home basketball games available in my living room. I assumed that some of the earlier basketball non-telecasts (both men's and women's) were due to conflicts with high school football, but last night the "conflict" was with some chubby guy interviewing the head of a non-profit and some salsa music. Has hoops ineptitude reduced interest and therefore the number of games being telecast? I hope not.

I am happy with the efforts that ARE made to promote the team. I saw Lauren Mazza tonight and it reminded me of how in her day the games were at 5, no cheerleaders, no TV, no snack bar, the only crowd was the people showing up early for the men's game and the ever reliable Dick Hammer. It's all about perspective Carney you curmedgeon! Smile

Funny...my biggest "wow" moment of the night was a beautiful 15 footer by Amanda Smith. She's got a really great soft touch...If they can get her footwork down she could really help us out and Purr could probably be used better. She still has some work to do though.

I remember years ago Vanderbilt had a couple of 6'7 girls and it was like a huge media event whenever they went anywhere. Fordham had a player in the early nineties that was 6'5 and the team actually used to practice against tall boys to try and simulate what it would be like to play against her. Well good Lord St. Francis had some trees! One girl that was 6'7 and a 6'8 girl that didn't even dress.

What the hell is that?
