Fairleigh Dickinson

I can throw all my eggs into the conference play basket but I can't help but be disappointed by the TYPE of play I am seeing.

These young men have talent but there is too much individualism on the court.

We can all praise a player that brings us back out of a deficit but I choose to look at the whole game and what started the problem.  It starts with whom they give the power to (too much power).

Not getting the ball out of your hands in time to hit the open guy (too much dribbling), trying to play two man ball to assure the assist, holding the ball late in the possession to make the play or get the assist and holding the ball after the sixth team foul to add to the FT point column, is killing us.

I had a kid on my 17U AAU team this past season that could keep every one of his stats in his head the whole game and if you were the opponent we would be easy to beat if you just got in the mind of our PG.

Getting into the mind of the coach, namely FOH, you would know that he has to keep the Germantown Academy coach happy to continue to get shots at getting his kids. Plus, you've got the old man's son on the bench.  What a conflict of interest.  On a similar note, I really don't get Staffords play time.  Way too much playtime!.  Airballs, shots smashed, the ball taken right out of his hands.  Of course then FOH has to keep the Jersey Shore Warriors coach happy to keep the flow of players. I've had trouble seeing D-1 in him.  The only other offer was LaSalle and trust me he would've never seen the court on that team.  Maybe a GPA kid???

Can we get Klenewski to stop forcing shots and missing open guys.  He is probably the greediest player on this year's team.   Not the size, talent or footwork of Trist so let's not try to make that something it can't be.  Good hard nosed player but too point driven.  And can we teach him to play defense.  Arguably the worst defender on that starting line-up.  Can't stop the drive.

You are the same guy who posted the rambling diatribe against Lindner last February. Claimed to know so much about him but didn't even know how to spell his last name. Lindner sure turned out to be a bust after that post, didn't he.  It still appears that you have a grudge against him because he made your son look really bad in some HS or AAU  game.  And you are still very wrong about his game.
Andy

Thank you, 137.  Talk about "getting into the mind of..."  Yikes

Factoid- Colgate became only the second basketball team in history to lose 50 consecutive times to the same opponent when they lost to Syracuse last night,

What might be even more surprising to many fans is that Colgate had beaten Syracuse four consecutive times immediately prior to the streak.   For many years, the two teams used to meet twice each year.   In the 50's and early 60's, Syracuse was not good at all.

Even more surprising (at least to me) is that the other streak is UCLA beating Cal 52 straight times from 1961-1986.  Even with UCLA's pedigree, it is amazing to me that they could beat a conference rival that many times in a row.

For those of you who have a weak stomach or would like to keep their head in the sand....please pass over my note.  For those who want to be objective and right the wrong ship ASAP please read on!

I have no vengance on any child...I am just stating facts and my opinoin!  Is our PG fast...yes, is our PG the appointed FOH leader....yes..is he strong...yes....Has he won games for the leopards...NO, it takes a team to do that....does he make good crunch time decisions....no.... does he have an explosive controllable temper....yes.....does he believe that at the end of the game, he is the ONLY person that can have the ball in his hands and take the shots....ABSOLUTELY YES! ...is there others on the TEAM that can make shots...absolutely YES....are they given the opportunity....ABSOLUTELY NO....

c'mon people, this is not a bashing just seeing it for what it is..  FOH has put the entire season in the PG's hand and he CANNOT do it all alone.  He is the leader of the team but certainly doesn't play like it.  The tech foul (2nd of season), turn overs, missing open players to take it, TO ME shows greed and poor decision making.  Scott had just nailed a 3 and we were down by 1 when the PG decided it was his turn; with Scott spot up again wide open and the great decision maker looked Scott off and took it to the basket only to get his pocket picked.....not smart  They all missed shots, had turnovers etc but they all sharred the ball minus the PG and maybe one other who just tries to bulldoze over people with no-where to go.  Big guy, "your under sized" and no Dan Trist!

Again, go look at history and see who has the ball under 3:00 min and who doesn't give it up and holds onto the ball...PG,  He doesn't even look for others as he wants the points.  Tell me I'm crazy but prove me wrong with FACTS...AGAIN..Look at the tape (last 3 min).  We have so much faith in the PG and when he fouls out a wayward soph comes in to run PG/G and he looks lost (not his fault, just not ready).

Again, in my opinoin.....as soon as FOH can work with this TEAM and get them to play together and trust one another we will loose and that breaks my heart.  The last time I checked, there was no "I" in team and our PG certainly plays like there is an "I" in hIm!

Sorry but we all have to wake up and face the truth.  He IS a good player just not a good TEAM player.  Again, watch the last 3:00 min of every game and count the number of assist especially in tight games.  I guarantee you that number will be 0 or maybe 1...not good for a PG!  We will not win the PL with any PG leading the TEAM in shots unless you are Curry from Golden State and sorry, he's no Curry.  Where is Tony Johnson to mentor this kid..sorry young man!

We should have beat FD but GREED got the best of us once again!

I accept all feedback but not emotional responses, look at the tape and give me facts!   tks

You don't have an ounce of objectivity in your whole body.    I am not a Lafayette fan - but I certainly know enough about the team to know your opinions are so prejudiced as to be worthless.

Agree.  If Linder appears "selfish" with the ball it is because he has to be.  He is our best scorer/creator, and he is doing his best to will the team to victory.  We are lucky to have Nick Linder.

I always refrain from calling out any individual player unless it is to praise their efforts. The one player you have an ax to grind with doesn't have the players around him like he did last year. The other "under sized" player is playing the position FOH has asked him to, and, oh by the way, had a double-double last night.
I refuse to get too upset with what I am seeing out there right now. If this were last year, yes, I'd have a lot of concern.
We are very young, we've lost a ton of talent and leadership from last year. (obviously!) Last night we turned the ball over too many times (23) we missed critical foul shots, but, we've got kids who were not in this position before.
Guys are still defining their roles and feeling their way around. I see some pressing by players, either because they are trying to make a play, or haven't figured out how to play D1 ball yet.
One thing I will say is the effort is there. We were down big in the first half and I was interested in seeing how we would respond (Princeton). We did a nice job of playing hard and got back into it and even had a 7 point lead in the second half. The next step is finishing it off.
This isn't FOH's first rodeo. He knows what he has and he'll figure out how to use them.
Andy

No Rufer last night.  Has a knack for  big plays.  Might have made a difference.

Whatever line I have in terms of allowing personal attacks on this forum you are extremely close to crossing. If you're going to call out the character of the players (or the coaches for that matter) have the courtesy to post a name.

This is clearly a personal issue for you - I recommend another outlet.

I don't agree with gopard's screed. If I have a criticism of this year's team it would be that the younger guys lack experience which leads to lack of confidence. As a result Nick has to take too much on himself.Unfortunately the younger guys must grow.Basketball is a team sport where the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.Team play and individual confidence are  essential to winning. The players have to trust each other, That maxim is what Grentz preaches and it is totally true.I have heard her say that repeatedly and if you watch "The Mighty Macs" apparently her coach preached it too (To the extent that movie is accurate.) Nevertheless no one can do everyone's job. Everybody has to do their own job and trust that the other guy will, too.In the Fairleigh Dickinson broadcast John O'Conner repeatedly pointed out incidents where lack of experience by freshmen led to errors.
