FH loses to Drexel

Drexel was 1-6, had not played a game in 10 days, and is starting a large freshman contingent, and we lose 2-3 giving up two goals and 12 shots in the first half. Lehigh is up on Saturday who is 0-2 in the league and has not beaten us in a decade. We are missing an assistant coach, we had a fully funded scholarship program that won back to back PL titles and was ranked in the top 10 in the country,  has had a foreign trip, and  has a player that was selected to the under 21 national team Now we are hoping to get a win over a Lehigh team that hasn't had a winning record as far back as I can remember.
A loss on Saturday would be a disaster. I still believe this a potentially  good team and it is in their power to turn this around!!.

Ugh...what a disastrous result.  I had such high expectations for this team going into this season and now we're worrying about beating Lehigh?!

I agree that there looks to be a lot of talent on the team, but someone needs to light a fire under them.  Something is definitely not working.  What needs to change?

MIssing is her top assistant Civico. That is a big hole. Not having a replacement and only two coaches ( one less than allowed by the NCAA) I believe has been a huge factor.

Where did he go? Why didn't we hire a replacement?
Lafalum

He is an englishman and had a green card. He got married to an American ( Rutgers Coach). That changed his status and because of that he couldn't hold a US job until his case was cleared. I would like to believe our personnel people gave or got him good advice. He could still return if his paperwork clears, but the season progresses.

As to why a temporary replacement wasn't hired you have to ask our administration….I won't speculate.

So he came here on a green card, what would (could) his status be after he married?

I am not an immigration expert but I suppose he could be a citizen. There is no doubt he would be eligible to work it is a bureaucratic thing I understand.

Sounds like a mess. If he's actually planning on returning to coach at Lafayette, then I could understand not wanting to hire a temporary replacement. That's a big if though.

Otherwise, the decision is a head scratcher.

I've hired employees on green cards who then married US citizens and my company's legal dept (Fortune 100) never flagged a break in work status. And those folks haven't even been from an allied nation like the UK.

Our immigration system is a mess, so nothing would surprise me. Hopefully his paperwork moves along so he can return to work.

Is he still in the US?  If so, why can't he work and we don't pay him until all the paperwork is mishandled by the government. We just keep him around until the season is completed then pay him what would have paid him during the season. Some times you have to do what needs to be done. You can always claim stupidity.
Interested Pardee

I would certainly like to see him back, and I don't want to discount his influence, but he's not going to pick up a stick and play.  It is up to the girls on the team and their leadership to get this ship righted.

Yes, awaiting an imminent decision, he cannot even be a volunteer or the College faces substantial fines is my understanding. I agree this should have been better handled. I also had employees who made the transition without missing a beat.

Fines for what? Fines for having a job? This doesn't smell right. Sounds like he would be better off being an illegal alien.

The employer pays for hiring an ineligible person. Remember, there is no doubt about his eligibility to work, it is paperwork.

I agree, the talent is there at all levels to turn it around. We have 5 league games left. We need to win at least three to get into the playoffs, 4 would lock it up!! It starts with Lehigh on Sat at 11 am at Lehigh. It wouldn't hurt to have a nice crowd there to root them on then go back to Lafayette for a volleyball game and then the 6pm football game against Fordham. A day well spent!!

Heard from a source that Civico is back.  Hope it helps.

FH Tales on Bucknell

Very big game with Bucknell out at Rappolt tomorrow.  This is an even up game. I hope
they bring a great attitude and we have done our homework. A win would set us up nicely. I think this could be a great win for us!!
