Field hockey signs six in early signings

Stone has signed six to National Letters. I will get the names later. On good authority she has offered a european and she has been accepted by admissions. Fingers crossed!! One recruit was an early commit to an ACC school and switched to Lafayette according to reports !!

Do we have any speedsters in that list? With Weedling (sp?) graduating we have no fast break, something missing the last 2 years.

At least one runs for her HS track team and holds two school records. I will find out more!!

You can find the names of those who signed the NLI on the team's Twitter feed.

Stone has signed a 7th recruit from the Netherlands according to a source  close to the team. We beat out UCONN (two time national champs). One of the first six scored 26 goals and is an all state new jersey selectee. This is looking like a VERY strong class.

Hard to believe that Stone and FOH are recruiting on behalf of the same institution.

I must admit that I am relatively new to the board, but what does that mean?

Regardless, kudos to Jennifer and her staff in their efforts to build the program.  It does look like they are trying their best to inject some real talent into the squad.  I'm already looking forward to next season.

Pardfan doesn't like O'Hanlon, even though he has taken three teams to the NCAA tournament.

Ah, I see.  Thanks for the insight.

Soccer also signed the number 1 South Eastern PA soccer player of the year- a kid named Vare from Central Bucks East,s state champion.
Lafalum

I  understand Dennis is making a recruiting trip to europe!!
NewXbo

I wish Andy would establish a list of recruits for all sports.

Thanks for the info - I'm definitely watching to see what kind of class Dennis lands as he's proven himself to be a more than capable coach but the talent hasn't been championship-level caliber for a couple of years.

I did a quick google of Vare seems to have all the requisite credentials - he's on the ODP team and trains with an Academy program and while it's in vogue to dismiss high school accomplishments in soccer the C.B. East team is very strong.

Hard to believe that you don't understand the recruiting landscape for the respective sports makes such comparisons ridiculous.

Vare had 42 goals and 13 assists in 26 hs games including 4 in one state championship play-off game - a quarter final I think.

From a parent of one of the girls on the team, I heard that Civico has left.

I'm no expert on field hockey but I see this is a good change. He seemed to be the architect of swinging the ball back and forth multiple times to get it out of the defensive end. This allowed the opponent time to recover and eliminated the possibility of a fast break. I would liked to have seen players like Magaden get the ball quickly down field and take advantage of her skills one on one with the opponent.

Every team that plays us uses a high press ( pressing us in the defensive side of the field). We broke that pattern early in the playoff game with American and used a fast break to get an early 2-0 lead. The addition of some skilled attackers ( maybe the Dutch girl or the recruit from Madison} will take a lot of pressure and double teams away from Magadan and Colbourne. We could be very good with our rising sophs having a busy spring season and some key additions. Hannah Millen on defense will be a big loss, someone will have to step up.
ed65

Hannah Millen's loss will be sorely felt - Lafalum is correct.  She is a special player who got absolutely screwed by the ref in the 10 minute penalty game.  Not to mention what that penalty did to the momentum of the team.  In spite of Bison's helpful explanation of PL and field hockey officiating, that was a terrible call on an excellent defensive player.
