I don't think so.  Jerry Jones is pretty much crazy and sounds like he just wanted John gone for some reason or another.  He landed a similar role with Schiano in Tampa for the next season, and was also hired at Oregon State, so two pretty good gigs. Also per the article he   was interested in being a HC at the FCS level for at least a few years.

"According to multiple sources?"  "A lack of tight end development behind Pro Bowler Jason Witten during his tenure?"  I'll pass.  Not buying it.  I'm not going to look for something that's not there.

John Garrett is our coach and I'm standing behind him.

Also Jason Witten's wife, Michelle, is now following Coach Garrett on Twitter. And she's a MILF, for sure.

EDIT - Correct me if I'm wrong, but did hot-looking pro-bowler WAGs ever follow Frank Tavani? Didn't think so. So we definitely got that going for us, which is nice.

Also Coach Garrett is following a recruit from Dallas whose name is "Wunderlic."  I see what he's doing there . . .

Who said recruiting for academics is all that difficult? Rolling Eyes

I agree Garret was there for 5 years and it was time to strike out on his own. I like him and I support him. We got a good one until proven otherwise.

Here's a look at the Garrett upbringing. No red flags above, BTW, successful coaches move on.

Is Dallas an 8-10-hour ride from Easton? Actually, I'm glad he seems willing to go a little off course once in a while. But I do think there's nothing wrong with being REALLY GOOD in your core market.

Anybody who has spent time at the North Jersey shore probably has passed Garrett's family home in Monmouth Beach dozens of times. It's right across the street from the iconic Monmouth Bath & Tennis Club.

At autobahn speed, it is. Dallas is 1,500 highway miles from Easton, so at 150 mph . . .

What kind of car does Garrett have?

It took my son and I 24 hours helping him move to Mckinney TX a Dallas burb.

I love the family picture . . . can't wait for the Vineyard Vines-design uniforms next fall. Which gives me photoshop ideas, of course . . . . Cool

Lafayette can become to Vineyard Vines what Oregon is to Nike and Under Armour is to Maryland . . . complete with the alumnus-as-founder angle.  I hope we don't have to rename the teams the Whales and change the school colors to pink and lime green.  Of course, as Oregon has shown, "school colors" is apparently a relative term.

Sea-and-sun faded maroon jerseys with seersucker trim. Tiny leopard-print stripe down side of the stone-washed pants. The shoes will have tassels, of course. I'm putting the whale logo where the Nike swoosh usually goes - only much larger. Laughing

The coaches gear can be pretty much off-the-shelf, but do you think they'll let us do a jacquard game ball?

Curiously enough, leopard88, this is on the side of the Garrett family home in Monmouth Beach. I think it might be fate.

This will mean an increase in the price of fan gear (jerseys, polos, etc.), but it will be well worth it.  I'll starting mixing pitchers of vodka-and-cranberry for tailgating now (or is that rather pedestrian combination considered passe now?).

True.  That can't be just a coincidence.

Given the Vineyard Vines heritage, I'd go with Dark n' Stormies. Gosling's Black Seal rum with Barritt’s Ginger Beer only. I've been to those parties in Newport and Jamestown and the ingredients are very particular. And the rum goes in last for chrissake, never on the bottom. Quickest way to spot a landlubber noob.

I obviously have much to learn.

There might be a problem. I inquired of the First Lady, who scoffed at the notion of serving a Dark n' Stormy after Labor Day.

My bad.
leopard88

That's unfortunate.  Did she say whether there is a more appropriate autumn drink?

Also, will Labor Day present a problem with white pants and cleats?

This is enlightening. No wonder Joe Paterno teams always wore black shoes.

No faux pas for JoPa!  Laughing

Tirico and Gruden mention John taking the job during the Monday Night Cowboys/ Lions game.  Already some positive publicity!

Apparently, Grammy and Beebaw always closed the bungalow the week after Labor Day, so nobody seems to know what what to drink. The Conanicut Yacht Club Style Guide is of no help, either.

Luckily, I was able to get a fix on the beverage of choice enjoyed by the local tradesmen who clean and store (and joy-ride) the flotilla in the autumn months: Allen's Coffee Brady, straight from quart bottles. Mixed with vodka or brewed into a toddy, I think it would make for a fine choice here.
leopard88

A bracing toddy sounds delightful!
