Football Field is being resurfaced

I see they are tearing up the field turf at Fisher. Where are the funds coming from or is the school doing the right thing. Three sports are using it, that takes a toll. I am glad they learned their lesson from the Rappolt Field resurfacing and starting early enough to have it ready for the summer!

Are non-football sports waiting to enter the football field after the day's work is over to use the field?
Interested Pardee

With finals this week and the closing of the term next week, I imagine all the other field sports are done for the season.

Stopped at the field today, was looking for the quarter that Andy lost at the last home game and asked me to look for it.- no luck.

Anyway, all the turf is now in two dumpsters in he middle of the field. It's down to the stone surface. No one working today.

Our friend LCLF dumpster diving tonight.  Wants a field turf putting green out back!

If the resurfacing is being paid for by our generous football alums, can't thank them enough. Pards rock the FCS world in 2016!

Does anyone have any intel on the design of the new turf at Fisher?  The old one of course had the "two tone" green that was rather popular when it was installed.  I also wouldn't mind mid-field and end zone graphics with a bit more pop, such as maroon colored end zones.

This should answer your question . . . at least in part.

I stopped by this afternoon just as they started putting down the new turf. The end zone will be maroon while the rest of the field is green. I was surprised that the turf is being put down directly on the stone base (mostly fines but also some decent size stones also).

And thanx for the tip Pard Promise.

They are cutting in " Lafayette" in the West end zone and also cutting in the hash marks and yardage markers today. They have the field turf down to about mid-field this morning.

The turf is down end zone to end zone. Big "L" logo at mid field. Still cutting in yard makers and hash marks. They are working on the sideline pieces and may well be done by Friday. Of course, it will still have to be pelletized.

Yesterday's look from SID:

First and most importantly, LCLF was not nominated for the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame. I spoke with some of the guys at the Northampton County Country Club and they tell me it's his putting that cost him a few ballots.

Secondly I found the quarter you lost last year at the final home game, down two rows and over about three seats. It was minted in 2013. I'll mail it to you.

Today's snap should show the entire field and end zone with the mid-field logo.

WHAT HAPPENED?????   I stopped by the field around 4:00 expecting that they would be pelletizing the field. Surprised to see that the turf from the West 40 yard line to the West goal line had been removed. Down to the stone base.

Plenty of bags of pellets sitting behind the visitor stands. No sign of the removed turf in the dumpsters.

Looks like graduation will be in the gym, plenty of chairs set up in there.

Huh!?  Could see it as routine procedure to lay it out, cut in and sew the logos, then remove it for underlayment work; but where is it?

I have not seen any underlayment. I'm thinking now that they removed part of the turf down to the stone base for a possible plan to have graduation outside by putting some type of tarp on the stone base. With the weather they ultimately used Kirby.

Anyway, the missing section has been returned and it looks like they may finish today. They have pelletized the field and are top dressing the entire surface with sand.  They are running a small street sweeper over the surface backward to work the sand in.

They have also begun removing the turf behind the visitor stands. Looks like it will be trashed LCLF, bring a sharp knife.

Coach Fein's update:

Thanks, looks great!

It would've been nice to have the leopard logo somewhere, but per Coach T that was cost prohibitive.  In any event the maroon end zones look sharp, and maybe the new turf and lack of hitting in practice will finally cure our injury bug.

And Bourger weight room per Coach Link:
