It's hard to tell if it is average if we don't know what the other coaches. Do you have the salaries of the others?

It's hard to tell what is average since not all the salaries are available and the ones that are available are somewhat out-of-date.  For example, the salary shown by USA Today for FOH is from the 2012-13 fiscal year.   Also different coaches get many different forms of compensation and may or may not get big bonuses.  In that 2012-13 year, almost $80,000 of his compensation was in the "nontaxable benefits" category, presumably for a retirement plan, but he received no bonus.  It is very possible he got a bonus last year for advancing to the tournament.

As for other PL coaches, he makes significantly less than DeChellis ($450K) and Carmody.   I'm sure he makes more than Nathan Davis, Reed, Langel, GG Smith, and Spiker.   Definitely makes more than Brennan made in 2013-14, but Brennan got a new contract in August 2014 which might put him in the FOH ballpark.    Not sure about Joe Jones at Boston U.

:   A few thoughts about salaries.    First of all, good for Fran!   He should make a nice income.      Couple of coaches that I think might be at least a little under paid.  Bo Ryan of Wisconsin and Mike Brey from Notre Dame.  And my third thought is that for the best in their profession they don't really get paid much, other than the very top.  You can sure see why very few LC grads go into coaching.   GO PARDS!!!
Bogus Megapardus

O'Hanlon does more for Lafayette than simply coach basketball.  He produces stellar graduates who continue on in endeavors that shine a very positive light on the college.  His reputation is squeaky clean, there's never a scandal, and he is well-known and respected universally.  His players are enthusiastic and they love playing for him.

Perhaps O'Hanlon doesn't attract all of the very best basketball players available to PL/Ivy type schools but he gets the very most from his guys and he's a darn good game-day coach.  He's worth every cent that he's paid.
