Georgetown game thread

I won't contribute much because I'm at the New York Botanical Garden nybg.org overlooking Jack Coffey Stadium but are the stats right? 0.5 ypc so far?
Go Pards. And if we lose this, go staff.
The early statistics indicate this is a horrible game for all concerned.
Maybe just call it right now.
NE Leopard

Missed most of the half because of the crappy LSN feed. 3-3 at the half, maybe we generate some offense in the 2nd half.

Please keep us posted.  Im at a dreadfully bad hs game. The life of a band parent.

That's about right though. Seeing how this season has been.

The football team has been terrible and now we can't even watch it, because our sports network can't plug in the right cables.

Good grief!
bethlehempard

Lehigh 37 Fordham 9
Charleston Southern 41 Bucknell 21
Both in progress.
3-3 in Easton. Never bet on two bad teams.

Colgate 10 Holy Cross 0
NE Leopard

Still 3-3 10:48 left in the 3rd. Both teams first possessions ended in punts.
NE Leopard

Great catch by Franzese at the 1, now let's see if they can punch it in. Georgetown challenges it, but the call stands.
NE Leopard

Reed touchdown, kick is good. Pards lead 10-3 5:28 in the 3rd
NE Leopard

Drealand James pick, short field opportunity. Tyler West 17 yard TD run.  Now 17-3 3:40 left in 3rd
ed65

The livestream is not working for some reason.  Just like FH Game last night.  Is the problem LC or is it the company that does the streaming?  LC up 17-3 but we've been spoiled.  It is impossible to watch Game tracker.  Maybe I will check Twitter.
NE Leopard

I'm on Campusinsiders.com...feed seems to be working fine now. End of 3rd, Pards lead 17-3
Bogus Megapardus

Is Tavani still the Head Coach?

Ahh . . . I guess so.  Never mind.

Frank has 2 more weeks.
NE Leopard

Turnover on downs by Georgetown. Pards takes over with 1:56 left. Overall we played a solid game. A win is a win.
NE Leopard

Final 17-3...congratulations men, you deserve it.
flyfisher

way to go guys. you deserve this.[/code]

Congratulations

OL and Tyler West , very good push up front.

Our DBs played stout....nice job Coach Link.
Well done overall

Roll Pards..build off this for Lehigh
zenator

Unlike last season, the players have not given up or quit on each other. It is the first and ,perhaps the most important, step in learning how to win. Go Pards.
Bogus Megapardus

Congrats to all the players for the win.  Lord knows you deserved one.
ed65

Really pleased with the win.  Whenever we lose to Gtown, I get massive merde from my Gtown buddies!

Good effort by all, especially in the 2nd half.  Now two weeks to prepare for th 'Gate triple option or whatever it is called.
seenalot

Nice win - congrats to all.
bethlehempard

There will be joy on the Hill tonight. Finally!

Charleston Southern 49 Bucknell 28
Lehigh 58 Fordham 37
Colgate 26 Holy Cross 8

Hill as in College Hill. Not the grimy industrial slope in South Bethlehem.

'cuz they have FiOS. Cool

DVR playing, the big question is how did Georgetown hang with Fordham?
Perhaps anything is possible.
killaBee

Great win,

The defense played great.. very aggressive and fast..
bethlehempard

Doubled-up and more in yards. No turnovers. A rushing attack and manageable penalties.

Case in point, today Princeton trashed Cornell, Cornell beats Bucknell close, we lose to Bucknell 42-17 and lose to Princeton by 4. AGS

Deep down, we are better than we have shown. We just have to learn to close games out (like today) win and have a winning attitude going forward.

While I don't disagree with NE Pard, we need more speed and better O linemen not to mention much more depth on D.
flyfisher

Accurate comments by ED and NEPard but we got a win. I thought a key was the play of Jerry Powe. That is what a Link defense should look like. I thought it was also ke that we had a decent running game today.
LeopardBall10

Hearing fly and a few others talk about the team'S fight this eek gave me hope but I was hesitant to beleive. Way to go Leopards. We alumni are proud of your fight. Congrats on the victory.
NLF

Strong efforts all around. Great to have something to cheer about for a change. Last time we had a 175+ yds rushing, 245 yds passing and no interceptions?

Powe is a stud. He should be a lock for All PL.

I'm confused about West taking over for Dunn.  Did he get hurt?  Either way, they're both a treat to watch. They get north in a hurry!

I think one of the unsung heroes of the game is YT. He looked like he belonged at Safety.

Enjoying the win but None of this changes the environment on the Hill. Changes need to be made.

Yes congrats to the players but I can't wait to have a new coaching staff on the hill !!!
artanis

A good win.
artanis

...and congratulations to coach Tavani for saving his job. After all, he has doubled his win total this year.

seems like as each home game passes by, it's more and more Lafayette commercials that are spammed on the video board. Feel bad for the band and sports marketing. Not surprising, though.

$$$$$

I have not mentioned this but I do appreciate the band. Definite improvement. Much appreciated.
ed65

Let's face it guys. the coach's talents are on display for the next two weeks as they have plenty of time to practice and coach the players to deal with Jake Melviile and his "multiple" offence.

oh, i'm not talking about sponsors. I'm talking about the nonsensical, agenda-based commercials that take away from the band and the talents of sports marketing. Again, it's not surprising, though.

That junk is terrible.  My personal favorite is the one about the 35 year old dude who is some sort of test engineer for the Navy.  Certainly a quality career, but not really a big deal dude.

Also glad we won, and happy the kids have some positivity.  That was however a really poor Georgetown offense.  They are pretty sound fundamentally, but are completely punch less.
Andy

LGBT & "If you can play," back to back. Terrific.  You can have your scholarships and your stadium, but by gosh we're gonna use it to push our social agenda. No answers, no action, no plan. About 2000 in the stands.

I think I recall Link doing a pretty good job against CU.  The game was competitive despite our crappy O scheme.

The good news is our offense is a little better than last year's. I know...that's not saying much. Our Dlinemen must play better than they have and take some pressure off our LBs and DBs.

The other positive is CU does not change what they do on O, ever. Our weakness is in the flats (short/mid sidelines) and I don't recall them trying to exploit it. Every once is a while, yes.

We had 34 yards rushing against them last year. If we stay the same course as the last 2 weeks, we will put up more yards, keep the D off the field, yada yada, you know where I'm going with this.

I got my Dunn and West fix, but GAWD do I want to see what McCrum can do!

Spring 2014 - Art Link named coordinator
11/08/14 - Colgate 19 - Lafayette 16, 171 rushing yards allowed, 272 yards of total offense

11/07/15 - Colgate 28 - Lafayette 19, 205 rushing yards allowed, 350 yards of total offense

This isn't awful, but is about on par with the last game against Gate with Loose. And if far from where it needs to be to consistently beat Gate.

There was a learning curve for Loose, because his defense, the 4-3 zone blitz, can't handle the Colgate offensive scheme. This create several of those terrible 300 yard rushing games. So, Loose revamped his entire defense and moved to a 3-4 which stopped the bleeding a little in his final years. Link was hired almost exclusively because his 3-3-5 scheme was supposed to be the best against the spread zone read. I will admit that I havn't studied the 3-3-5 much but am interested to see how he attacks/dictates to this offense. If you sit and wait for them, they will read you and carve you up all day.
