Good start

Men's soccer opened Patriot League play with a 1-0 shutout of Lehigh. Huge standing room only crowd of over 1200 with a large and loud student contingent. Leopards had some great shots early on and finally scored on a header around the 13 minute mark. After that they kinda went into a defensive mode and did not press the action. Defense again very solid and GK only had 4 legit saves to make.

The volleyball also put it to Lehigh Friday night 3-0 for their first league win. Definitely missing Fisher and Canto-Ponce on the front line. Team may not make the playoffs this year but they do have some promising freshmen in Racibarskas, Elmer and Slater.

Field Hockey and womens soccer continue to have trouble scoring and winning.

I did stop by the Field Hockey game and I saw great improvement since the last game I watched early in the season (rutgers). There was really good ball movement and they are making plays. We should have won the game as we dominated play, had more shots , and more corners than HC. The one goal HC dribbled in the first half.
A new goalie (freshmen) was put in the second half. This team is working hard and with only one senior playing and lots of underclassmen in the mix I am very encouraged. It is true we need someone to find the back of the net but our pressing defense and hustle are giving us oportunities. I see real improvement and hope, especially with a new scholarship class arriving. If we get in the PL playoffs we would beat HC given our pace of improvement. We should beat this team!!
I intend to stop by the Lehigh game next week, before tailgating before Columbia.

That's a wonderful turnout for one heck of a good program. The fact that Lehigh also has a strong program should make the LC/LU game a "must see" event every year in the LV. I can't think of a better crowd since the 1995 NCAA run where people showed up in droves despite less than perfect accomodations (like...um...seats).

FHreport

Just to follow up on last week. FH played Lehigh and beat them 3-2 yesterday with a very solid defense and a great effort on penalty corners.
We started out very early with with a rocket from Mggie Condon.
The second half saw a much beter effort from Lehigh and we lost some monentum. This is a much improved team who has a good chance to make the PL playoffs.
The morning saw an alumni game with nearly 40 alumni playing and later honoring Ann Gold by naming a team room after her. This was a very good Saturday in Leopard Land

Some team members told me they missed you and your megaphone. Nice showing against Lehigh, lets see that's mens soccer, volleybll and field hockey so far.

Actually the guy with the megaphone has moved to fisher field to be charge of music there, thats after his day job in psy-ops at Guantanamo Bay
