Harvard

LC winning 28-3 at halftime

For anyone who may not be aware you can catch the telecast on channelsurfing.net

Leopards got a lot of breaks and took advantage...looking strong but as Tavani said "it's a long way from over"

This particular curse has been lifted - for now.

Impressive performance at Harvard Stadium.....Most encouraging is improvement shown......

Dare we ask?  Can we run the table??  That's what it would take to maybe secure a higher seed in playoffs.

Carney, I think, has finally gotten the message that this is a very good Lafayette team....after all that is what it takes to reverse the curse.

Way to go, Pards!    Coach Loose for President! (of Lafayette), Coach Fein is clearly Dean of Diversity!  Great day.

Unrelated, but Colgate stuggled vs Gtown; Hoyas were up 14-7 in second quarter and 14-14 at half. HC vs Gate next week.

Yale 7-0 Clark was at QB.

Great play calling!  Lots of passes on first down.  Terrific defensive effort despite the late scores in the 4th quarter.

Thought Harvard's late timeouts, going for 2, and on-sides kick when down 3 scores with 33 seconds left was big-time bush league...

Great win for the Leopards.  Holy Cross and Colgate will be formindable and Fordham looks to be putting things together, so they will be no pushover next week.

Just got back from the game. What a freaking day! Every year there's a few Harvard fans that sit on the Lafayette side just to stir things up. They were a pretty damn quiet bunch today.

The defense just manhandled Harvard today. They really set the tone. And this may be one of the seven signs of the apocolypse but Lafayette, being coached by Frank Tavani, ran a Wildcat offensive play today. Now I have seen everything. The special year continues. Great job Pards!

Now a loss to Fordham sure could screw things up. We have to stay focused and keep doing what we are doing. Woo Hoo!!!! Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Excellent job by the Pards today on both sides of the ball.

'94 - Was it as empty in person as it appeared on TV?  It looked like a couple thou ppl rattling around in that big stadium.

Quick impressions- big stadium, LC crowd almost as big as the home crowd, as it was at Yale. I'm sure it was a lot warmer watching LSN than it was at the field, but at least no rain. Brilliant first half; second half was enough to hang on. First half we really made them look like a DII team. Some spirited coaching from all, including a notable tirade from Frank to the O-line after one anemic series, made for a colorful spectacle. All in all, a historic day. Go Leopards!

Yeah it was pretty empty largely becuase today was also the Head of the Charles regatta. It's a huge event up here and Cambridge was packed! I don't even want to talk about the traffic! I'd say there might of been about 4,000 or so people.

another thing they didn't show on LSN

Another thing they didn't show on LSN: the Harvard band, repeatedly giving Lafayette the "umbrella gesture" (AKA "Italian salute") throughout the 3rd quarter. Lots of class from the upper crust, guys.

I've never seen a bigger collection of loser band geeks in my life. I must admit I was enthralled by them. Not because of the quality of their performance (which I would rate a 6 out of 10). Rather it was the sheer "geekiness" which kept me glued to the action. It was truely a trainwreck.

As per the LFN blog, this also the same school that joked in their paper to stalk the Harry Potter star at the football game and then twittered during the game of her whereabouts. Smart kids...

Great Article from the Express Times

Speaks to how focused and intense the kids are right now.  They are playing with a refuse to lose type attitude and are really gaining some confidence.  It appears one of our LB's Dixon will be out with a torn ACL.  Sucks to lose him, but at this point of the year a starter or two is going to get injured.

Also I  had no idea freshman Pete Bross was diagnosed with cancer.  Hopefully the young man will make a speedy and complete recovery.

OK, OK, I now believe! This was not just a win, but a smack down. Our "D" will keep us in every game. And guys on offense just keep making plays.

Screw The Curse!

Go Pards!

I received a letter from Frank earlier in the season telling me about Bross and how it might be nice if some former players sent him well wishes via email. I did so though I never heard back from him. Don't blame him at all incidentally. Don't know how responsive I would be on the heels of such a diagnosis. I actually forwarded the gist of the letter and his email address to The Maroon (aka Aaron...moderator of this fine board) and told him if he thought it was appropriate that maybe Pete would like to hear from some of the more dedicated fans of Lafayette football. I did let Aaron know that I was concerned for Pete's privacy and that if he thought it was inappropriate he shouldn't post it. Aaron wanted to think about it. I guess he felt like he shouldn't post it. I understand where he was coming from.

At any rate, while I was proud to see that the team is drawing inspiration from Pete, I would just as soon watch a less inspired team if it meant he was healthy and doing well in his recovery. I hope his set back was a temporary thing and he's back on the road to a full recovery. Frank indicated in his letter that Peter was very disappointed that he couldn't suit up for the Leopards this year. Though it would be very special to watch Pete play for the Leopards one of these days, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say just getting healthy should be his main priority. He's no less a Leopard than all of the guys who are flying around the field on Saturdays...that's for sure.

On the outside chance that Pete reads this board...get well soon. You're in our thoughts.

Well said 94.  I usually dont open letters from Lafayette as it is usually just propoganda or a request for $ so I probably missed it.  Pete seems like a high quality and courageous young man--hopefully the next update we get on his status will be very positive.
