Holy Cross Game Thread

Well that is some start. Ideally Drew will be back if not today later this season.
Blake is a solid guy.
Holy Cross is a juggernaut? So far today they are. Everything is working for them.
Nice stop by Mitchell.
Pards Rule

Yikes in a 10-0 hole already. I guess never question the Vegas bookies huh??
edge29

We seem to be asleep on both sides of the ball.
bethlehempard

Can't get one yard but that is no surprise.
A score would keep us in the game. It's a bit early to be needing a TO or return. Just a stop and re-set.

Geezus H. C****t. 30 yards.
Pards Rule

UUUUUUUgeee Cross run...WOW
65Pard

Cant pick up 1 yard on 3rd down.....same old .....
Pards Rule

Oh no the OTHER Killa Bee down
bethlehempard

Fordham 34 Monmouth 34 in OT.
Colgate is just 5 up over Cornell 90 seconds left and Cornell has the ball.
Lehigh is walloping a bad Yale team and Harvard 31 - Georgetown 17 last night.

Score and it's a game. Otherwise this will be over at the half.
Pards Rule

What happened to Reed? And Puljos not playing - apparently no problem from what I see!
bethlehempard

Concussion for 7.
This is the worst game of the year. Score now or ?
Lafayette is being overpowered and Holy Cross appears to know our O and D calls as well as the Pards do.
And why shouldn't they?
Pards Rule

Nephew txt me from Monmouth game in WLB...Monmouth wins!
bethlehempard

Maybe McCrum will play later.

Hell they are so predictable after watching enough film and playing against them every year.
Pards Rule

M&M bails us out with great long catch from Searfoss. Just over 50 yard line.
Pards Rule

BP, you have a Southern Tier final there?
bethlehempard

Cornell beat Colgate. 39-38.
Going for a FG. OK.
Missed. I think there was a snap or hold issue.

Thank you sir. Hate the Red. Maybe will do my 2nd game at Andy Kerr? Im 1-0 there! Recall we came back from 16-0 with 2 TDs and 2 pointers and FG to win it by frosh in final seconds, 19-16.
65Pard

So we go 70 yards through the air, then the coaches knowing we have no running game try another run for no gain.......same old....
Pards Rule

Missed FG by Pards! Ugh! 13-0 still
bethlehempard

it's not over yet but the defense hasn't looked like this since last year.
Pards Rule

D is moribund. Not pleased. Wow, just think we get to play Army in two weeks! Lovely!
Pards Rule

Wheres Tyler - f*ck Waldo...wheres Tyler!!
Pards Rule

30 seconds in first half. At 10 need a TD bad to stay in game here.

Pards Rule

What are you watching it on...PLN says "event ended at 5:30"  Are you kidding me? Why arent they showing it. They got some soccer on now! Why isnt LSN showing the game then if PLN cant carry it for more than two hours?! This is a farce!
Pards Rule

OK whew got it back up. PLN must have had issues. HC 16 Pards 14 but Pards first down at Cross 8! Come on guys!!

Pards Rule

Cross TD on pass! Beat coverage...Cross gets 2 too as dude wide open!!!!
Bogus Megapardus

Weapons grade ineptitude.
Pards Rule

This thread is as dismal as the turnout on both sides of the stadium! Just a paltry handful I can tell on Cross side (may even rival the visitors attendance Snow Game of Oct. 29, 2011, five years ago vs Bucknell) and ours moribund for a Homecoming game.
Pards Rule

Great Cross punt return to our 25...Sky and prospects getting darker....Darker...Youre going to D3....I mean sleep!
bethlehempard

31-21.
Over?
Was it over when the third-string QB bombed the Leopards?
Probably. That punt return was crushing.
I hope we ordered "the chart" this week.
Pards Rule

TD Cross and XP and its 31-21 and theres the ten spread! BOOM!
Pards Rule

Punt return crushing indeed...Wow...Losing to Cross and 3rd stringer...Searfoss sacked. Put this in the L column and who is next week?
bethlehempard

You mean 37-21... Soon to be 38-21... We don't need any chart.
NLF

When is the the part where we get to run-up the score on them like they did last year?
Pards Rule

Wait...what  did I miss? Searfoss sacked..Looked down to type and HC kicking XP??????  38-21?? What happened?
Pards Rule

Wadsworth TD...Back to Vegas spread!
bethlehempard

Fumble and Cross TD.
Now a two-score game as Lafayette has put one in.
Bogus Megapardus

Pards Rule

An onside kick with 6 minutes left?!?
Pards Rule

I would throw it to D for stop and maybe TO...whats the percentage of onsiders? With 6 minutes left IDK.
Pards Rule

Of course didnt work and they have the ball on our 45....
Jpao92

Maybe it is all the injuries we have suffers this year, Oh wait that was last year
Maybe we need a better stadium, oh wait.
Maybe we need a football field house, oh wait.
Maybe we need to start giving scholarships, oh wait.
The Weiss years did damage, oh wait the expiration on that one is past due.
We need more scholarships, oh wait.

Tenure some more coaches and full steam ahead on failure.   Athletics are beneath us but are right in the wheel house of certain schools in the PL that are consistently ranked ahead of us.

At this point I have come to the conclusion that the Administration and those that they report to simply do not care about athletics.  Even after the mileage they milked from 150 they still fail to see any benefit from having a successful athletic program.  They cynically ask us for money then spit in our faces.

I realize you can't win every year but there should be some shelf life for failure.
Andy

I'm going with pathetic. All around, players and coaches. Team came  out asleep. Imagine if Frank wasn't upset about last year? There was one well coached team on the field today. Can you get one frickin yard for a first? Sorry, they'very lost me with that effort.

How does this suggestion of tenure fit with announcements of contract extensions that we've seen? Last one said signed thru 2016.
Pards Rule

I dont know but performances like this today vs. like-bodied and minded schools dont bode well. Maybe the kids, after hyping up and being in most of the games vs. Delaware and Villanova, just couldnt find it today. Just when it seemed like we were ready to get it going and take a two possession lead over HC, we laid an egg. I felt if we could get up by that scenario in second half, Cross would fold. They showed they came to win and I submit we were hoping they werent going to basically show up with all that transpired with them in the past week. I thinks that a quite accurate description of what went on there today and Paul you are free to use it my friend!

Most of us have been here way before you showed up, and will be here when you're gone.  Yes, the admin is an issue.  But guess what we have that same AD we did 10 years ago and we have a better situation at president now than we did then.  We also have scholarships and great facilities.  We were much better 10 years ago because we had solid coaching.  Now we have a head coach who can't coach and he has assembled a disfunctional staff.  The head coach and his staff are problem number 1 and 2.  This program will not win as long as Frank is here.  He is the issue.  Bruce and his boss are a problem because they refuse to do anything.
Franks Tanks

Also I am almost positive Frank does not have real tenure.  He has dr facto tenure because his boss is a blow up doll dressed in a maroon sweater vest, but to my knowledge does not have tenure like a prof would.  Frank can be fired, ok reassigned, at anytime.
bethlehempard

This was the best rushing game of the year:
23 carries, 93 yards, 4.0 yards per carry.
I may go to the Bucknell game. That might be win No. 2. I wouldn't count on it.
Lafayette was not ready to play for 15 minutes. How can that be? The#%%%% league opener.
Maybe we can steal a win but Georgetown is too good.
The great thing about the Bison on the road:
In Lewisburg there is nothing to do but drink and if it's a loss,
make it a double.
1-10 again is a real possibility.

All true. And without Reed, though I thought Blake played well. And he gets no reps in practice. I was surprised how HC ran on us and with a 3rd string QB. He even threw a good ball. I hate to say it but they were faster on the edge than we could defend. Another 1-11 looks likely now.

There have been some good points here. Everyone says we have not improved. Maybe we haven't, maybe we have. But one thing not debatable is we have not progressed at the same rate as our competition. Frustrating.

He in fact has real tenure as a member of the faculty.  That does not guarantee him the HC spot but it does make him expensive to get rid of.

When did this occur? Does that mean all of these contract extension announcements are basically "works" - to use a WWE term?

I forgot that Frank sports a mustache as well...By "the Stash" - I meant that Bruce should be first to go.

Bruce and the administration have given Frank the resources necessary to win, and specially against a HC team with a third string QB and a terrible defense. We're all looking for answers but they won't be found with the current staff. It's time for a change and I believe Frank knows it. It's time for him to fall on his sword.

They scored 38 without Pujols...

Fans are in the odd position of hoping for a cataclysm, a season so horrible that change must happen. If we are to be bad, we must be very bad. 3-8 won't do it. 4-7 would lead to a celebration.
We had that cataclysmic season last year. Nothing happened. 1-and-f'n-10.

In the Patriot League.

1-and-10, do it again!

I'll start the chant at the next home game.

I watch every game hoping for a win but knowing that each win delays the change. If there will ever be a change.
On to Fordham, on to Army, on to Lewisburg.

We are failing in the scholarship era. We aren't investing aid and salary dollars wisely, almost across the board.

I may go out there too. Perhaps do a round on Sunday at Bucknell Golf Course. Last time I was out there for a game sadly in memory was 2012 and my dad who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (and never smoked) was still alive. He and my mother are Bucknell '61. The family does go out there every summer, stays at the mods, and has a 3 day golfing trip with dinners downtown at Bull Run House and with the opening of Penn House Commons a dinner at that great new pizza place there. Must try the reloed Chinese place that was in the old Quonset hut which spanned the creek. That is demoed and the chinese place now inline at Penn House. And BP there is a liquor store in Penn House (reloed from Market Street as was the CVS) that we can BYOB to the Chinese or pizza joint!

Carney was right we are who we are and I agree but the optimist in me says someday we will stop the culture of losing athletics at Lafayette !

Frank & Julio, both of who had been employed by the college for many years, are consider faculty and thereby have tenure. Julio retired a few yeas ago. Frank continues to be listed as faculty.

I think it's time for a change, including the entire staff.  Frank would be good at fund raising, like Leone, something the college is always doing.

An opening would draw a long list of applicants.

On another note why wasn't there a replay of the head on head tackle by Holy Cross? I watched the Ohio State game early in the day where a similar play occurred and they reviewed the play and ejected the defensive player.

Just a poor homecoming in general.  Less than 5k in the house, but I can't blame people for staying home on an iffy day instead of watching a loss for the 16th time in the last 18 games.  Not much activity around campus save for some drunk kids... very little in the way of adults enjoying time back at campus.

We were of course treated to a "protest" as a bunch of children dedided to come to the game just long enough to sit for the anthem.  There happened to be a group of middle age African American individuals near the group, and they were standing proudly for the anthem.  Quite a contrast to the spoiled and entitled "protesters"... Want to make a difference?  Go mentor and tutor some kids from Easton, many really need the assistance.  Tired of the whole deal I encounter on the hill.

I'm on the bangwagon if you want to start the campaign.

I can't stand watching these games knowing how good this school can be, and knowing Frank is cashing another pay check.

I've said it before, the program is a JOKE right now. Love it, but it's in shambles.
BPard

Disappointing game to watch. Will likely be the only game I get to see in person.

Agree we do not know how to win. Seems like those few games where we lead late, we have a mental lapse that gives up a huge pass play. Then we just collapse.

Not sure where this business about Frank being a tenured faculty member comes from. Only the board of trustees can grant tenure.

Given the history of athletics related complaints about our Trustees, I'd be really surprised if the Board granted a football coach tenure. If they did, it would be one of the dumbest decisions they ever made.

What's the source/reference where Frank is listed as a member of the faculty with tenure? And if you really want to cause a stink, tell faculty members who are generally upset with the tenure process right now that the Board decided to grant tenure to a football coach.

Why not kill two birds with one stone and name Frank the executive director of the Maroon Club?

That's assuming you guys are right about his contract situation and fundraising prowess.
