Hoyas Get New Uniforms

Georgetown is getting new Nike Mach Speed threads.  The helmets look old school, like Holy Cross.

Definitely not a threat to the sports marketing department at Oregon.

Dont know if anyone has seen the latest Oregon uniforms. They have portions that actually glow in the dark. Anything to attract kids i guess.

It's possible that Georgetown wants to capitalize on the "old school" cachet of the Patriot League and to underscore its pre-1950 heritage.  That wouldn't necessarily work for Oregon.

I give credit to Georgetown for bucking the "flash and glow" trend and keeping it simple (though there wasn't a thing wrong with their old unis).

I agree. I was just kidding. However those uniforms don't look like much. I am all for the Penn State look but dang, give me a stripe or something. How about one of those new helmets with the shadowed effect? Right or wrong, the kids like a new uniform with a little flare. Our boys were fired up at 150 to get new uniforms with just a touch of flare. Plus, the man that gave them to them.

On the subject, 150, our team was so much more prepared in every aspect than Lehigh. The team, the administration, the planning, the new uniforms, the game plan. The whole school administration should be complimented for the preparation they put into that game.

Lehigh had new unis for #150 too but it didn't seem to help them much.  The Pards' bye week probably was more significant that we thought in terms of game planning.

From the cheap seats at Yankee Stadium the Pard unis were impressive.  Lehigh's were not so much.  Perhaps they looked better on TV.

Speaking of which, when are we ever going to be offered a DVD of #150?  I didn't have a DVR at the time and I'm sure many Pard faithful would like to re-watch that game.

Anyhow, good luck to the Hoyas this season in the new threads (except against us, of course).  Maybe it will give them a boost.

Not a fan.  The actual uni's are fine, but they are a ripoff of Georgia Southern's duds.  They should've kept the old concept and gussied it up a bit.
Pard4Life

Those uniforms are about as exciting as Georgetown's football program.

What he said.

We're spoiled in so many ways by LSN, and DVD availability is just one of those ways.  Remember, CBS sports net had the exclusive rights to 150.  I searched online forever and even called them.  Apparently they're not in the DVD sales business

Yeah, but *somebody* in the Bourger Frankosaurium has a DVD of the game.  That's a given   It's only a matter of getting the rights to distribute it.

That's actually not a given. Sure they have the game film in the system, wide and tight intercut (not sure if they were able to get more angles because of the venue or not), but the TV copies are always hand delivered to Bourger by the LSN guys at Thursday's weekly press conference. I am sure they requested a copy of the TV broadcast, but there are no guarantees that they go it. We take our local coverage (and its quality) for granted.

If the college/CBS/LSN (or whomever) isn't going to produce a DVD (for which I'll gladly pay $29.95 or whatever) then maybe *someone* out there who made a DVR or who has a copy of the game would consider uploading an mp4 to a torrent/news/onion site.  The link could even stipulate that "voluntary" donations of $29.95 per download should be sent to the athletic department.  They'll get the idea once they start getting a bunch of anonymous $29.95 donations.  Cool

EDIT - By no means am I condoning any unlawful conduct.  Don't share a copy unless you have permission/redistribution rights.  But if you DO have permission/redistribution rights, please share!

EDIT REDUX - Any members of the media who might happen to read this board: were you provided with a courtesy DVD of #150?  Would you consider letting a poor, aggrieved fan borrow your DVD for "fair use" purposes?  If you don't copy it, and I return it to you, and I promise only to view it for "fair use" purposes, everything is on the up and up.

Please?  Just PM me here on the Pard Board.  I'll give you my full name, address and all contact info.  Everything on the level.  I'll warrant against any copyright issues.

Never taken for granted IMHO.  This board regularly sings the praises of LSN, Laubach and Joseph, the PL Network and our print regulars (especially Paul Reinhard).

It looks like Colgate and Lehigh will both be sporting new looks this year as well, notably white helmets (I think).

Colgate will have white helmets, and the 'gate script will remain (per the Colgate twitter feed).

I don't believe it has been announced, but it looks like Lehigh will continue with the white and brown helmets they used in 150.  They will also wear white pants, and may be finally doing away with the gold. The bown and white may actually once again have uni's that are brown and white (what a concept).
RichH

Smile Well,I liked the gold added in. Unis nicely desined but bland brown and white.Sigh. No clue on helmets. Gold has been worn at practices but rumor is the white helmet with Lehigh imprinted. I hope we are less boring ( in a good way Smile ) than our unis.

Gotta admit, for a school desperate to raise funds I cannot believe they have not sold DVD's of the 150 game. Maybe CBS owns the rights. I don't know. But for Al the things LC did right on organizing 150, they have so far botched this last detail.

And as a side note, no one, and I mean no one that supports football has yet to see a financial breakdown of where the funds from 150 were assigned. Getting reliable feedback that that money is headed toward the general fund. Kinda creates an impression that the college views the football program as, what can you do for me. Some of that money deserves to  go to  the people that earned it.  The locker room even needs new leather on the benches for the weight rom equipment. Game analysis software needs to be upgraded and renewed.
Lafalum

The entire athletic program has not had an increase in their budget in 8 years.
The practical effect is a cost shifting, as you give to athletics, and if the college increases the budget elsewhere, your athletic giving is in reality going for other things. We need to have an increase in the operating budgets. Athletics are an integral part of culture of the school and a live everyday connection to our alma mater.
