If you were at the Lafayette v Wagner game...

Read this article asking if lacrosse has gone mad with its February start: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sport...-column-0217-20150216-column.html

I couldn't agree more with the points in the article.  It is absurd that college lacrosse now starts its regular season during the first week of February, especially since so many prominent schools are located in the Northeast.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get why coaches seem so dead set against weeknight games.  My understanding has always been that lacrosse schedules typically include two games in one week.  I know there is scouting and film study to be done, but the preparation isn't nearly as detailed as in football.

One point raised in the article is whether Championship Weekend should be moved away from Memorial Day weekend.  I believe that is a tradition that should be preserved if at all possible.  NCAA lacrosse has developed a nice niche on Memorial Day weekend, which involves many people planning travel well in advance.  Replacing that with a random weekend in June that doesn't include a 3-day weekend would be mistake, in my opinion.

I know that if you polled the head coaches of the Patriot League lacrosse programs, to a man they would prefer a March 1 start date.

Unless you can get the NCAA to move the date for the tournament, it can't happen.

It can if coaches would be willing to play weeknight games.  It worked for a long time with a March 1 start and Memorial Day end (granted, with a slightly smaller tournament field)
