Is it me or is it quieter than the past several yrs?

It seems like this time last year the boards were real busy with predictions and good "football talk". Why the quiet? Are people concerned about the team this year? Less confident in the overall outlook? More hopeful than expectant from a W/L perspective?

I for one, am much more reserved than last year. I think there are big question marks on the O-Line, receiver and D-Line. I feel LC will be solid at DB, LB's, QB and the kicking game (even if we have to rely on good bounces on most punts) and especially strong at TB.

IF every O-Line starter stays healthy, and IF the receivers take the next step and play like they are capable and IF the D-Line gets a few more guys in the rotation that can give Poulson and Dell a breather once in a while, then LC has a chance at a pretty successful season but if just one of those things don't go their way, then all bets are off and only HE knows how they'll do.

I think the stretch that begins on Week 2 (Liberty) and ends at Week 7 (Fordham) is extremely rigorous and with only a game against Columbia to break it up, it will certainly tell us if LC will be in the hunt for the PL title.

My prediction is as follows: No major injuries to the above critical positions and LC goes 8-3 but loses to Liberty, Colgate and HC. If we see any major injuries then they go 6-5 with additional losses to Penn and Harvard.

What say you????

Right now (and that could change by this afternoon) I am cautiously optomistic.  Think D will be a force and Offense will be as good as Curley and White.

Agree that those areas are key but think DL depth is helped a good deal by Basil and Potin and that receivers led by Layton, Bennett and Stipe will be fine.  Need to see evidence of Padia not hear footsteps over the middle before I think he can help as much as his talent and size would suggest.   Also see depth at FB as an issue and hope the frosh Bross can step in behind Cummings - although Ferber will get reps he is not the blocking FB we generally see.

I agree with all that OL depth is a huge issue that is not going to get fixed anytime soon - and as Carney points out will REALLY get tested next year when its not a question of depth, but starters and quality bodies.

I think we match up well vs HC and can win that one - not as sure on Penn and Harvard, so I guess I am seeing 7-4.

not the optimist

Well, I've only followed LC for a year, but I'm not quite so optimistic. Clear strengths on defense, esp. LBs and secondary. Defense will keep us in games but we still need to score points, and OL, RBs and receivers all big questions with injuries, redshirts and attrition. I don't see offensive punch or ability to sustain long drives. Maybe with great D we can win games with field position, but for that we'll need to rely often on strong and dependable punting game and we just don't have that in the returning punter. We'll get FGs but if that's all, it puts too much pressure on our D. Add to that a tough schedule. Even G'town will have a game (HC) under their belt and will play us at home. I see us losing 3 non-PL games - Liberty, Harvard and Yale. I'm calling Penn a draw and Columbia a win.  In PL, I'll say we beat G'town and Bucknell. HC and Colgate outmatch us with beef and offense, and I'm calling Fordham and Lehigh draws. If we split the draws, we go 5-6 overall and 3-3 in PL. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not conceding a league game to anybody, we can beat any of 'em.

About time we beat Harvard, too.

It's all about staying injury free in the OL.  Layton may have a huge year and Stripe and DeAndre give us two tremendous speed weapons. Mo can be the best back in the league.  Keep Curley in the line-up, PLEASE, and we can win the darn thing.

seen, Coach announced at the LV gathering that Pete has undergone four rounds of chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer. His mom reports him to be in good spirits and hopefull of a return to the team this season.  We look forward to watching him, but even if he has to wait till next year, Pete is contributing now as an inspiration to his teammates. Our thoughts and prayers have been with Pete and his family since Coach's announcement.
