Is McKittrick the successor now?

http://m.goleopards.com/m/genrel/062716aaa.html

EASTON, Pa. Ė The Lafayette Department of Athletics has announced five promotions, effective July 1. Kaitlyn McKittrick, who previously served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, has been promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics.

In this role, McKittrick will be the primary adviser to Director of Athletics Bruce McCutcheon and will provide oversight for the day-to-day activities of the department. In addition, she will supervise the Sports Performance and the Facilities and Operations areas. McKittrick is entering her 10th year at Lafayette and will continue her role as the Senior Womenís Administrator.

Tony Russo has also been promoted to Director of Athletic Equipment Services. Russo will head the football equipment operations and supervise the staff and services for the entire athletic equipment operation for 23 varsity sports. He previously served as an assistant and had been overseeing the department in an interim role.

In the Sports Performance area, Stephen Plunkett is the new Director of Strength and Conditioning. Plunkett previously was the Assistant Director of Sports Performance, overseeing all activity in the Maroon Club Strength Center. In his new position, he will take on training responsibilities for the menís basketball team and continue the responsibilities of his other job, including prescribing year-round training for 19 sports and close to 500 student-athletes.

David Downey, who was recently an assistant strength and conditioning coach, is the new Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. Downey assumes additional responsibilities for sports such as swimming, track and field, golf and tennis.

Within the football program, assistant coach Phil Hallahan takes on the title of Director of Football Recruiting Operations and Community Outreach. Hallahan will retain his duties as the running backs coach and will have added responsibilities within recruiting, including overseeing the recruiting budget and managing recruiting visits. He will also be charged with organizing community involvement for the football program.

It's no surprise that Katey is the second in command. Everybody knew it, including George Bright who read the writing on the wall last year and moved on to Moravian.  I don't think it necessarily guarantees that she will be the next Director.

Many think that Bruce is not the kind of guy who can shake your hand with one hand and pick your pocket with the other. I think Kaitlyn may be the same.

She seems like a smart lady, but very much a manager in the mold of Bruce.  She worked at a D-III and under Bruce, so I don't think she really has experience working in a real D- I athletic department.  We need someone who will demand results, and make changes when needed.

If she is the next AD it will be more of the same around here.

Don't worry, there will be a national search that encompasses two blocks in all directions from APK.

Perhaps internal promotions are the precursor to elevating the Department to reporting directly to the President.

No
Way to quash the dream.

So, basically, those responsible for a 20% PL winning percentage have either been recently rehired or promoted.  Fantastic. Everybody is doing a great job!

Is there really an organizational chart for the Athletic Department? Or are we just changing titles to justify pay raises? McKittrick was the compliance officer. Is she still the compliance officer? Nothing about it in her new title.

The promotion of Kaity is great for her, but I fear it shows another failure on the part of the department. When George Bright left he was the Assoc. AD for facilities and operations. Kaity dealt with all of the academics and compliance. The school attempted to hire several candidates who walked away once the school refused to pay according to their experience. Instead they hired what appeared to be at least their second or third choice and named him the Associate AD for facilities, etc. With Kaity's promotion it looks like she will now oversee the Assoc. AD they just hired...

Just look at the titles and tell me this isn't mismanaged. You have the:
Director of Athletics
Bruce. Period

Deputy Director
Kaity - In charge of oversight for the day-to-day activities of the department. In addition, she will supervise the Sports Performance and the Facilities and Operations areas.

Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations
Foster - Wait, huh? Isn't that what Kaity is doing in her new promotion

Assistant Director of Athletics of Peak Performance
Potts - Now seems like he is getting the support he needs to actually make a difference with the athletes and what they need to succeed on the field

Where is the Assistant AD for Compliance or Student Support Services? Like NewXbo asked, who is doing that? It sounds to me more like Kaity is being asked to do everything. No AD in their right minds would take Foster, a facilities guy through and through and make him manage compliance.
