It's Warm Inside the BandwagonThere are only so many ways to say we're hot. I don't have enough corn on the stalk to keep saying of Dandy Vandy is or how Wright is Righteous and Virgin is....
Yes...I bet you hate the fact that you are reading this right about now.
It won't get any better.
I didn't make it to bucolic Newark, NJ today but I did get to experience the virtual game on the gametracker---and that's something we all need to do once in our lives. It's an 8 on the unintentional comedy scale--MY how far we've come from the days when I would have to call "The Maroon Club Sports Hotline" to get the goods on how Lafayette did in away games.
So we're 5-3 and all of you who called for Tammy's head (including my evil alter-ego) are looking pretty stupid right about now. How about Dr. Bruce and his killer personnel decisions? Seriously..has he MADE a bad choice yet? Terri Daddio-Campbell, Dennis Bohn, Andrew Griffiths, Mick Statham...and now it looks like sticking with Tammy was the right move.
Let's dig up some completely useless trivia:
1) ALL five of our wins are against teams we lost to last season. I don't see this anywhere in Scott Morse's game notes or postgame notes...Nope...You gotta come HERE to find out this stuff!
2) Two of our three losses were to teams we beat last year. I don't get it either.
3) We lost to Columbia both last year and this year. This is a big issue for me. I have this mental block where I can't take Columbia seriously in any sport. It's some sort of disease. They can come in with three All-Americans and a 15 game winning streak and I'll still be convinced they suck. I guess I'm kinda like the Lehigh fans who didn't take our football program seriously until they got censored-slapped last year...All of a sudden they couldn't blame Lembo and their world didn't make sense anymore.
4)Actually Columbia still kinda sucks. They are 1-5 when they aren't playing us and they got beat down at home to Army. My world still sorta makes sense.
5) The bandwagon is warming up but let's not get too carried away: Columbia, Cornell and The Mount are a whopping 3-12 when they aren't playing Lafayette.
6) The teams we have beaten are 10-20. Right now by far our most impressive win was Coppin State in Baltimore.
7) Cornell beat Bucknell, Princeton beat Lehigh in the other two games PL teams have played against our opponents so far.
 Forget all of that crap though: We have found a GROOVE. Somewhere during the Princeton game a swagger developed. This team has an identity--and the culture of losing seems long gone.
9) Wright and Virgin are going to be very good by the time the league starts. It's not like we've seen all they can do. Virgin doesn't have much in the way of stats right now but I've seen enough to know there's gas in that tank. If she's starting ahead of Garner she's GOT to be good.
10) The road (I mean that in that figuratively and literally--we won't see this team in Kirby for a while) gets a lot tougher now.
Right now (because I'm ALWAYS the optimist!) I see us finishing the regular season 17-11.

I hope you are right about the 17-11 season. Nice to see them beat the team they should beat. This will surely make recruiting much easier for Tammy.

Tammy...the program...they DESERVE some breaks! I think this is the year it comes together. I'm not saying they are going to get lucky--I just think they'll finally finish off the close games.
