It will be a miracle......if I don't get kicked off of AGS forever. For whatever reason I find myself locked in death struggles with some very established posters over there. I say "for whatever reason" fact of the matter is...there are more than a few Fordham supporters that don't like being confronted with the obvious fact that they are generally whiney, over-sensitive malcontents who can't wrap their heads around the fact that they are a mediocre program and have been ever since the last of the 7 Blocks of Granite graduated back in the 20's.
There...I feel better. Sorry about that. As you were.

Holy Cross fans are worse--you should take a stop by their board. It's a bunch of old guys wishing they still played BC and use every possible scenario to bring up how they should have joined the Big East and if they did they would be a national b-ball power. Also Bill Simmons went to Holy Cross so that is also a big negative in their direction.

At least the HC fans generally view any shortcomings their program may suffer (a list that shrinks by the day) as their own doing. Fordham fans blame everybody else for their problems. Drives me crazy.

As you may recall they did essentially the same thing when they blamed the PL for the downfall of their storied basketball program. The move to the A-10, where they have RARELY made it to the middle of the pack let alone above it, didnt fix that. Probably time for a move on from that too.
Excuses do not equal facts.

My guess is that we won't have Fordham to kick around for much longer and that Holy Cross football will sink to the level of 5th or 6th place finishes after Dom grabs his diploma. You're kicking dead and dying horses (ponies), 94. Pack it in.

To the extend that my kicking the pony hastens its demise...I will continue to kick!

You got that right Franks Tanks. Currently in hand to hand with them. They are just waking up to the fact that there is little chance they go to scholarships so I think its Gilmore's last year so this is their swan song.

So who will replace Fordham if they leave PL? Albany?

The PL doesn't necessarily "need" a replacement. The automatic bid to the playoffs is valid with 6 teams. Still, a 6 team conference is pretty lame. I have no crystal ball, but I have conferred with Lawrence L. Logic and he says that the Patriot League will be slow and spotty in its approval of football scholarships, adopting a "do what you want and when you want" policy similar to the implementation of basketball scholarships. But the key is there will be football scholarships. With the scholarships in place the League will be in a position to pick up defectors from the unwieldy and apparently disintegrating Colonial Athletic Association. Based on comments I've heard within the past 6 months from the Leopard's mouth, Tavani apparently believes that Villanova is ready to jump.

Nova can stay in the CAA. I like winning or being in the hunt for PL championships . Naturally if Nova would join the competitive imbalances would be nuetralized, but Nova would be very tough for the first few years until things get evened out. Lots of chatter regarding Northeastern as well-- they always seem to be a rumored new member.

Interesting....I guess we will have to endure 4 years of Nova beatdowns until our scholarships come to fruition. Kinda like the Holy Cross transition.

Andy Talley would sooner set himself on fire in the the middle of John E. DuPont Pavillion before he coaches a team in the PL. If Nova comes they come without Talley.

I calculate that Andy Talley is 64 years old. Since any transition of Villanova from the CAA to the PL is years away, Andy can save on the gasoline and simply collect his social security and Villanova pension. Let his successor worry about beating these low life Patriot Leaguers.

Why not an Independent, like Bryant, or Old Dominion?

From the sounds of it I think Old Dominion has plans of moving on up! If not FBS then certainly a bigger schollie league...at least that's what I have heard.

Bryant is in the NEC and Old Dominion the CAA. ODU just hasnt started play as a CAA football member yet, but they are in the CAA for all sports.
I doubt we would want a public institution with 24,000 students in the PL-- to far from the other schools. Bryant was an intriguing possibility, but that ship has sailed.

Please dont call me a pro-- i hope my life isnt that pathetic
I dont believe either team is officially part on their conferences yet. Bryant is still in the D2 transition and ODU is obviously brand new, but they are locked in to the NEC and CAA already.
Georgia State is starting FB next year so an already bloated CAA is getting 2 new members for football (both are all sports members)

We see part of the reason why the CAA is the Patriot League's "best" source for future members. All we need is scholarships.
