L of MD

I hope we re find our shooting touch at home tonight or we are in for another rough one. The greyhounds just beat American and the Brown ones in the hangar. Why don't we send them back down I95 with an L.
Lafalum

I would like us to show them a nice beat down to set us up for another W at Kirby on Saturday!  Defend our home court in style!!

Very Happy Hi guy.  Took a couple weeks off from the board, I was so frustrated with the Navy/Bucknell games that I considered finding another pastime.   But I reconsidered and am ready to prognosticate again.  What I observed in those two games and to lesser degree in the BU game was three things:  1)  FOH teams almost alway have a stretch where they are just out of sink and they were certainly out of sink in those games.  As in the past this team will get over this little stretch and be fine also.  2)  Don't think Nick looked for his shot enough.  Nick is a terrific PG and needs to score to keep the other teams defense honest so they can't just take away our 3pt shooters.  3) When Dan touches the ball in the post we must have a couple guys start positioning for the rebound.  We often times had Dan low and 4 players on the perimeter  with there hands out like a bum at a soup kitchen.  Not to knock Dan, he is having a great year, but he IS sort of a black hole.  Once he has it he usually is not passing it back out.    And as good as he has been his shooting percentage is not 100.  Nick did a better job against BU looking to score.  If he will find that Tony Johnson happy median of scoring and facilitating and if we will give Dan some help inside this team will be fine.   GO PARDS!!!!

Pretty close up and down game. Trist has been sitting on the pine most of the game.
Lafalum

Nice team win with Trist on the bench in foul trouble and Hendricks fouling out. Way to step up!!!

Klinewski had a big game for us during a stretch of the first half... he will be a special player for us.  However, it's clear that we moved the ball really well once Trist came back in the game.  Refs were calling it extremely tight and Trist would have not made it to the end... FOH played it very tactically.  Loyola may "seem" good, but it's just another example of how every team will be a tough game.
Andy

I have no nails left to bite. Way to grind, guys!

A solid win at home.  Team now has an excellent overall record and 3-2 in the PL.  A good test on Saturday with the AU Transfers coming to Easton.  I understand they are now longer called the Eagles and prefer the reality of the "Transfers" from AU.  I'm not sure what the mascot will be - maybe one of those chits we needed when we  transferred to a different bus!

AU does not belong in the PL but neither do the Terriers and the Greyhounds.  Bison will probably have a snarky comment but that's OK.

Everyone, except Army, is slowing it down, milking the clock and limiting possessions. We never got into our usual rhythm and flow. We definitely battled for this one.
Two of the officials also did the Navy game. Yes, the same striped clowns who didn't call the cross body block of Trist late in the game. Good Lord these two are horrible. I know there are going to be judgement calls but these guys are so inconsistent the players have no idea how to adjust.
Sorry for the rant.
Nice win and effort guys. I like the Klinewski kid. He busts his butt and when he gets his hands on a rebound, it's his.

I didn't realize they were the same refs as the Navy game. I commented at the game that the league needs to winnow out these types of terrible refs. You know they're awful when Hinrichs fouls out. I don't know actual statistics but I would think he commits very few "real" fouls. These fools got him for at least 2 and maybe 3 phantom fouls.
These refs made so many bad calls that the whole rhythm of the game was thrown off.
I realize that it's only 2 games later but that cross body block call stands as the single worst "call" I have ever seen in a basketball game.
They also missed Klimewski's injury when he was bleeding all over the court and allowed Loyola to score on the sequence. That was another "no-call" even though they checked the replay.Klimewski apparently went to the hospital for stitches and did not return to the game.I agree that Klimewski will be a really good player . He is just the type of rebounder for which we have great need .

In that vein (no pun intended) does anyone know Klimewski's status ?

I agree on Klimewski he could be the inside banger we need. He has a lot of heart. On the calls, I have to disagree, the worst no call by these refs was the no goal tending call in the Navy game. Second was the cross body block. And third was the no call after a bleeding Lafayette player in last night's game. These guys should be banned. Remember Trist piled up a bunch of fouls and a third foul with only 29 seconds into the second half. And yes fouling out Hinrichs on a tickey tack foul with less than two minutes was strange ( or questionable). Makes you wonder though.

Klinewski is fine. He was in good spirits after the game. If you didn't know where he was hit (outside corner of left eye) you wouldn't know he was injured.

I did have a good look on Seth's 5th foul. It should have been a no call, he merely had his arm out to prevent the Loyola player chasing the ball from get around him. The Loyola player went out of bounds due to his own momentum.

The referee reviewer acknowledged that the referees missed the two controversial calls the last time they were here. The cross body block on Trist and the basket interference on Navy. Not that it does any good.

It seems like referees apologize to Lafayette a lot... especially in football...

So, Holy Cross has one league win... are the natives already campaigning to fire everyone?  HC is probably the most entertaining fan base in the PL.

Totally concur with the comment about the 'Sader fan base.  I really enjoy reading their Forum - it makes the LC posters seem gentle.  The guy who posts as 70 is a riot.  They won't be happy until HC joins the ACC with Boston College and becomes a doormat.

I appreciate their passion, but disagree with  their solution (joining the Big  East). To be honest many of their problems are similar to ours that has it's derivatives in the same issues. Poor leadership at the top, lack of vision, embracing a failing model within the context of vision that is embraced by only 5 pct of the graduating high school seniors, not really seeing what the true PL model is (something between small and large with benefits from both), not embracing, demanding and rewarding elements for success, and a BOT that seems indifferent to the obvious. These are all correctable and it pains me as at pains them. We could be much more, and seem to reject it year after year and never seem to grab it when there does seem to be a solution in sight. As I write my check or checks year after year I am beginning to wonder if there are not better places for my resources. There is nothing noble in being a constant loser.

Now go pards, beat the crap our of American this saturday as we have our first winning seasons (M and W) for any Pard team in any sport for the last year and a half.
