Lafayette at Army

Any predictions for the outcome of tonight's game ? It looks like a mismatch. They are at the top of the league and we are near the bottom. The worst fears about this season seem to be materializing and a football team-like record hovers over the Pards like a flock of circling vultures.
Andy

Bryce out with arm in a sling.

Our kids can't shoot warmups, basket still being moved into position. 2:10 prior to tipoff. What BS.
Andy

Basket problem finally solved, 3 min warmup time added.[/u]

We should forget warmups from now on ... up big at the half!!!

I thought I was watching a replay of the Colgate game but was happily surprised. The Young Leopards stood up to the heavily favored Black Knights and pulled off the win.Great game for Fran and his players.

Agreed almost gave it away and Lindner's money free throws at the end was big!! Liked the intensity as well. Nice win!!
Kpard

Never trailed. Rufer was huge tonight. Nice win. Very nice.
Andy

A first for me seeing Fran attack the water cooler; the one sided officiating, which of course we're used to up here, was just too much tonight. Embarrassingly so. Anyway, great refuse to lose effort from our guys. Yeah, Pards!

Congrats to the team and the coaches (and the hardy Leopard fans who made the trip).  Always like to see LC wins at the Point.  And (surprise, surprise Bison). the officiating was horrible as it always is up there.  I swear some Big Brass Army types threaten must the refs with 30 days in the stockade if they don't make calls against Army's opponents.

I've been going to games at West Point for 40 years and the officiating has always been one-sided.  Every team expects it.  It was bad when Bucknell played there Saturday and not surprisingly it was one-sided tonight.  No matter what refs are assigned that won't change.

Congrats on a good win.

Overall a good game against a very unathletic team.  A little less Klenewski.  A lot less Lindner.  No Scott and we win (hmmmmmm). Great play by Rufer.  Stafford just in starting line-up because FOH knows he won't get in the way of Lindner and Klenewski scoring.  A little more Freeland for rebounding.  Zalys, still out to lunch on his inconsistency but he will set a good screen.  Never understood the way he plays Boykins but I'd imagine his athleticism wasn't needed tonight.

Based on the three's they missed, I think they lost it more than we won it.

FOH is conveniently superstitious.  Let's see what strategy is used against the BU boys!!!!!!

Every time I try to read the boxscore on our website, via either desktop or Ipad, it's half covered with adds and other extraneous windows.  They won't close or move. Am I doing something wrong? WTH! Come on, LC...

I have been going to West Point for more than 40 years and, if anything, the officiating in basketball and baseball has gotten worse.  It doesn't mean we have to accept it.  I have spoken to numerous West Point Brass and civilian staff about this - after they stop being smug about it, they almost all admit that the Point has a tremendous home court advantage.  The Patriot League (and Bison has done some good research on this ) needs to get its act together and fix the officiating problem.

I made the screen bigger on my laptop and the complete box score was revealed (just barely).

I was not aware of this issue, and it intrigues me.  "Regular" league officials are used for Army home games correct?  Is it one of the unwritten rules that Army gets the benefit of the doubt from officials at home because they have been so bad for so long? Does this practice extend to Navy?

1. There are no regular league officials.  All of them ref for at least 3 or 4 conferences, and none ref very many PL games.  The pool is identical for Army and other PL teams.
2.  I think Army, and to a lesser extent Navy, get favorable treatment because most refs subconsciously feel an empathy with them. Many will be in harm's way defending our country in the future.  Some will be seriously injured or killed.  That earns a lot of points.  Coaches have complained privately for years but it won't change.  When I go to an Army game ggat doesn't involve Bucknell I root for Army also.

Thanks, ed. It looks like the problem has been fixed. Thanks to those responsible.
