Lafayette vs. Bucknell 10-31-2015

Alright gents,

we have spent ALL WEEK bashing our beloved program and bashing our infamous Head Coach!!!

Let's get some excitement going leading into a big league game.

Believe it or not, these games are huge, not just for the future of our HC, but for the future of this young team. If these guys can show some fight, show some guts and heart and compete. Notice i did not say WIN, I said COMPETE. well then the future may be brighter than we foresee. It is always darkest before the dawn.

What does Lafayette need to do on Offense to win this game?

What does Lafayette need to do on Defense to win this game?

What does Lafayette need to do on Special Teams to win this game?

What does the Lafayette Coaching Staff need to do to put these young players in position to win this game?

What are the Keys to this game that will determine if we go 1-8 or 2-7???

Let's talk football.

GO PARDS.
bethlehempard

Let's connect on a few long passes.
I'll be in New York tomorrow but hope to get back for the game. With the crazy Village Halloween Parade and a Dead show at the Garden, more motivation to be out of town early.
And yes our program and our coach are both beloved. Frank is a huge figure in the history of Lafayette football.
Go downfield!
LeopardAlum

I like the kid Desean Brown, he doesn't have great speed but he has good vision and a good feel of where to go when the ball is in his hands. I would like to see a game plan based on him and the young O-line. We have shown the ability to run the ball. I would love the see our offense be physical, take our time and run the ball right down Bucknell's throat. When I say take our time I mean let's control the clock, I would love to see the time of possession heavy in our favor. If we can do that we will have some chances to go up top if  we can prove that we are not going to rely on a short and intermediate passing game that Mickey has made his living on. Instead we should go back to basics and play like there is nothing to lose and shove it right down there throat.

Defense needs to play with more effort. I would love to see a motivated defense that is playing no other reason other than the guy who lines up next to them. Become a unit, play together. The kid Bryant has some serious ability. Lafayette for awhile truly was Linebacker U. We put a string of some of our best guys to ever play here lining up and playing Linebacker one after another (Godbless coach Hachmann). Bryant has a legitimate chance to be as good as any of those guys. However, is he a leader? Even as a sophmore can he get angry and get sick of gettin his butt beat enough to show up and get the other guys to play with relentless effort. How about Roberts? Can he convince the guys on that D that he only has a few games left and he is willing to do whatever it takes to leave with his head high and proud of this defense????  I want to see effort, anger, motivation, and PRIDE!  Lets get three and outs and get off the field. Lets beat up Bucknell physically and send them out of here hurting.

Speacial Teams needs to be motivated, and disciplined. Speacial Teams is huge for us we need to win on ST because we don't have enough talent to guarantee any other victories. No reason we can't out hustle Bucknell on ST. I would love to see some sort of trickery, we have nothing to lose lets play like it.

Coaches have their backs against the wall. A game like this shows what they are made of deep down inside. Not as x's and o's but as MOTIVATORS! Can this staff get these young men to play for each other and play for the future and for the seniors? I want to watch the effort and the intensity the team has, and if you watch closely, that will show you whether or not this staff has done their job to motivate these young Men. Also, trick plays, let it all hang out, 3 games left, empty out the book, on all sides of the ball... have fun and leave nothing on the field.d

Can Lafayette and this staff silence the haters??
I sure hope so.

GO PARDS.

I like how some think the kids are not hustling. They're trying, just out-manned. You think we are frustrated? Think how they feel. You bust your ass all year, give up a normal college life and then you lose? A lot. It sucks.
LeopardAlum

the lack of effort is not the fault of the players. The idea of displaying relentless effort begins with the coaching staff. They need to teach the players HOW to run and run and run. Relentless Effort.

Flyfisher - you should watch the film, learn the difference between players who turn and look, versus players who turn and RUN.
There is a big difference, and it is noticeable on this Leopard squad.
Let's hope today that changes.

Go Pards.
Franks Tanks

That was one hell of a kick by Bissell.  Wow.

17-14 pards.  Gotta say the Leopards came to play today, but making plenty of mistakes which have lead to some big plays by Bucknell.
LeopardAlum

youre right, great kick, would have been good from damn near 60 yards.

you can tell coach T. got more involved this week and really challenged his team.

Great to see the enthusiasm, effort, and desperation to win.

Look forward to a great second half. Both teams are so evenly matched. PL needs to improve our talent all around.

Colgate beating Fordham will really throw things into a whirl. (pippy long stocking)

GO PARDS.
bethlehempard

I don't think Susan will go on this fourth and one.
False start. They are punting.
Good lord ! They had that on the fake and blew it!
bethlehempard

Ugh!
bethlehempard

Well it's probably over. But it was a game. Odd choice on not trying the FG but at this point what the heck.
2:43. B 28-24. First and goal around the Lafayette 8. No. 10 for L getting helped off the field.
35-24 1:56 left. It was a real game. Just turned out to be a loss.
There's hope!

Stream working for anyone?  Mine suddenly dropped out a few minutes ago.  All other websites are working fine.

Bucknell tried to give that game away and we still lost.  There is hope?  You have to kick a field goal there.

Yep it's over ugh it's official were the worst team in the PL ....Bruce you were standing on the sidelines near the coaches what do think ? Any changes needed or the injuries caused our bad season ?
bethlehempard

35-24 final. These players didn't give up. They just didn't win.
How crazy the league is: Lehigh has a shot at a share of the title.

Once they dropped the fake, yeah. That was huge but we didn't capitalize. I'll be interested to hear the FG explanation.
At this point I'm just glad it was a game.

I watch the film every week. Multiple times. My oldest son watches who played and understands the game much better than me. No doubt we have a few cancers who make crappy efforts. But I try to never mention names. The good news is new leaders are stepping forward and are not tolerating that crap.

Kids were pretty down tonight. Tough loss. They are dying for a win. Made a big difference to get Wadsworth, Smalley, and Staudle back in the lineup. Bad news is James was slated to return but tore his Pec in a late week walk through so he is done for the year. Can redshirt and get a 5th year in somewhere.

Where do you think all of these kids are going to go for a 5th year?  These graduate transfers happen, but aren't exactly common.  The league has had exactly one so far in the last few years from what I can tell- that kid from Fordham who went to Florida.  Teams don't just have all of these scholarships around to give out for such purposes.

The constant redshirt jabs are pretty tiring.  The kids know the deal before they ever step on campus.

Safford went to Georgia Southern and Ben Eaton went to Towson. Both were "home" for them.

Can't hide the facts. Sorry if that offends you but it's the truth. It's not intended to be a jab. It is the current situation. And you are right, the kids know the rules and some are taking full advantage of them, as they should. Easy way to get a year of grad school paid for.

Point is there are not unlimited graduate transfer opportunities with a scholarship.  If a kid can land one good for him, but a kid must be very good and fill a position of dire need, for a program to throw a scholarship at kid for one year.  It is a bit of a desperation move in many cases for the program, and kids should not assume such a move is guaranteed for every player.

Some if the Ivies don't even allow medical red shirts.  Overall if a kid is very interested in red shirting they may wish exclude the Ivy, Patriot and service academies from the selection process.

You are getting ready to see several in the next 2 years. Look, I am not complaining. It just is what it is. It's a challenge in front of us. I also talked with a coach about it recently. They are aware that the redshirt rule will cost us a few players and their 4th year of eligibility. It's also their oldest and most mature year physically.  I am not trying to argue. Just conversation.

I don't blame some of the kids. They can go ahead and graduate from LC and get a year of grad school paid for. Plus you can't just stick around LC for that 9th semester. You have to either drop out for a semester or pay your own way.

Frank, this isn't a complaint. It's just a challenge we face. I'm not mad or upset. We love LC. We give more money back to LC that we gave to my other sons university or even my alma mater and my wife's combined. It's fair to say we are smitten with LC.
