Lehigh

Yes!  Lafayette, all of us, really needed that win.   Magnificent foul shooting down the stretch!  Thanks for restoring some pride.

Honest, on the way out, one LU football recruit to another: "Dam_, dude, those Lafayette girls are HOT!"

Wow....Ignore what I said 3 hours ago conceding the win....

We do have a nice looking team...

Beat Lehigh on the road?  Everything else seems insignificant.

Love the effort and intensity way to go Ladies!!  Never gave up!!

For anyone who doesn't understand the passion involved in athletics needs to see the goleopards video of the post game celebration after the Lehigh win by this team. It is great!!! We need more of it!!

Came from 14 down, on the road, against the defending champions.  You can't say enough good things about this one.

Wow...If you can watch that and not love this team you certainly aren't a Leopard...The crowd was into it too...We certainly needed that.

Watching that clip, I think Coach Nolan was stunned by the players' reaction.  Now she knows what it means around here to beat Lehigh.

Great win ladies!!!

How about schooling the men!?

Was gonna get back to reality after the uplifting win--beat a 1-3 team, shot 28%, etc. But after watching that clip, it can wait till another day. What a riot! Nice job getting that on the site.

Exactly half (well 99/200) of our mins played by freshmen and sophs,  (Opposite of the mens' game) and what appears to be a quality class coming in.
Xboreturns

Nolan was apparently not happy with what she was getting from the upper classmen and started the three freshmen.  Offensively, they got off to a slow start as she had Fiacco playing out above the foul line. After falling behind, she changed to a high low set with Fiacco on the blocks and Liddel at the foul line. LU pretty had control of the game until the 10 minute of the second half.

The tide turned as Fahan went off on her own run of steals, rebounds and baskets. She did a nice job of reading some LU crosscourt passes and doubling up on their post players. Our shooting wasn't that great but we got some momentum and made some big shots and clutch foul shots.

In spite of a solid game from Fiacco we are still having trouble defending in the paint. Every time LU would make an entry pass, Fiacco would pick her up but we were not getting weakside help and LU would drop the ball off for an easy layup. As a result, LU scored 34 of their 54 points in the paint.

I was going to go the "reality" route too but 1) I still think Lehigh is going to make some noise in this league and 2) I can recall some wins by our football team (a 17-6 win over Georgetown and a last second win over Monmouth to name 2) that weren't anything great in and of themselves but you just had a feeling that things might be changing...Hell they were down 14 and on a 4 game losing streak...Would have been easy to bag it.

Nolan kept it real though - you could tell she was pissed they let them fire up a three and didn't foul!!! Gotta keep coaching!

Not only were the frosh and sophs playing a lot - they were among

Yes, I suppose they're having trouble in the paint, whether due to athleticism, scheme or simply lack of fundamentals.

But for this game, they just beat Lehigh on the road!  The post-game celebration tells you everything you need to know about the spirit and camaraderie of this team. I'll save the criticism for later. That, my fellow posters, is a team.

That short video clip displayed the Lafayette spirit that I know and love.  Lafayette women's basketball just became my favorite team  Lacrosse - can you men/women equal that kind of passion?

Hey, Maroon, I went to your blog

and am truly impressed.  The "Boys Progress, Girls Regress,..." piece is flat out great.  You had my employee in stitches.

For the rest of you, take a look.  The aforementioned article will hit a nerve or two if you are a parent.

Thanks C2 - given that you keep it real I appreciate the feedback! I like to blog and wish I could do it more often!

A fair point.  If Coach Nolan didn't know, she sure does now!
