Lafayette v Lehigh Basketball (Mens & Womens)
I guess the only thing to make this day better is to sit in the lounge chairs during the game.
Hell. I might even have to keep the points per possesion ratio (inside joke)

Here's my glass half full. We came back from 16 down. Our bench is stronger than it has been in years.( I love the energy our bench brings to the court) We are young and getting better!! We can attract 3100 fans without the students at school. Despite lehigh being more athletic they suck and are very beatable.
Here's the half empty. Brown hasn't got his stroke back and might not this season.( Is it the longer three point line). We were not as athletic as Lehigh. Who will be our go to guy consistently for the rest of the season. This academic calender means most of the season these guys are not playing in front their student supporters. We lost to Lehigh

We arent going to beat many teams shooting 32%. That said, does anyone recall a game in recent years where the front court outscored the guards? An aberration....or is the balance starting to come, and while it might not produce many wins this year, will it over the longer haul? I have not seen a game first hand this year, and I am not sure if the other team is daring us to move the ball inside or are we doing it of our own design?

This is the most inside presence we've had in a long time. Mintz is really improved and playing confidently and if Willen keeps improving....... Brown is just overmatched right now. He's 5-10 (???) and Lehigh put a 6-3 defender on him the whole game. He can't get a good look and when he does I think he's either pressing or by the second half he's tired from being held, pushed, etc. We had a lot of really good looks at 3's in the second half that we didn't knock down. Kari stepped up, but, none of our other guards scored. Benbow was hurt, didn't play and limped noticably. Defensively we played well enough to win, our shooting was off. Fran keeps saying we are a good shooting team. We need to be better than "good".
P.S. Lehigh has over 21' of big men collecting $50,000 a year in scholarship money to warm up the seats at the end of the bench. Anderson plays, but, he's a 4, not a center. I like what I see down the road.

Good observations, guys. With Andrew and Gruner shooting a combined 1-16, who'd have thought we'd be there in a position to win at the end. This young team is ahead of schedule. Terrific physical effort. GO PARDS!

Please consider this, when the Lehigh recruits spoke about other schools that were looking at them they didnt mention Lafayette. These recruits were being looked at by other PL schools as well, but Lafayette was absent. Wanna guess why? Because the Leopards are targeting a whole different group of recruits. I have yet to see one of the players that chose Lehigh mention that Lafayette offered, we shall see how many go in the other direction. BTW your FB teams was 5-6 this year Love how a losing record now passes for success on the South Mountain.

Who would have thunk it? LUs front line was 6 for 24 and ours was 10 for 19. Our guards were 7 for 38, LUs were 13 for 36. LUs guards shot 5 of 13 from the arc, our guards were 4 of 24.

HMMM-- I would say that Lafayette mens basketball isnt very good right now, that about all you can say about that. As for the Woman's team who really cares. If we are smacking about womens sports we have sunk to a whole new level
Lafayette holds a huge advantage in the all-time Men's series. It was mentioned during the game but I cant find the number. Anyway Lafayette basketball has been better then Lehigh basketball for the better part of the last few decades.
Edit-- I found the numbers it is Lafayette 136 Lehigh 73 (includes last weeks win)

BTW, the all-time Lehigh record in basketball was 888-1293 (.407) at the start of the year.
For the last 16 seasons, it is 154-301 (.338).
That includes the Joe Knight forfeit season, which LU describes in the following disingenuous way:
Lehigh volunteered to forfeit 13 victories from the
2004-05 season after a technical interpretation regarding
the application of transfer credits to NCAA progress toward
degree requirements resulted in an institutional declaration
of ineligibility for an otherwise eligible student-athlete.
- - - - - -
Using "volunteered" in this context is like a convicted criminal volunteering to go to jail, since PL rules mandated a forfeiture of all games.
And I like the phrase: "resulted in an institutional declaration
of ineligibility for an otherwise eligible student-athlete." . . . . . . . So he was eligible except for the fact that he was ineligible! . . . . . . . And it was not an "institutional declaration", it was because under NCAA rules he was clearly not eligible to play. Forfeits were mandatory regardless of what was "declared" by the school.

Yo 808 Dude! And how many years head start did you exactly have on scholarships? Oh and BTW, I believe we split last year starting 4 seniors, none of whom had scholarships. And further BTW, last time I looked we were both tied in the PL standings @ 2-3 with our 2 wins coming against teams, dare I say, LU lost to. What's up with that?

Fair question. The answer is no. We've been able to recruit plenty of young people-male and female-who can't quite play the game at this level.

I don't think someone should be suspended just because he's a jerk. This person is someone pretending to be something he's not. He's obviously not well informed, just read his posts on the Lehigh board or this board or the Colgate board (I guess he hasn't found the Holy Cross board yet). My guess is that he's a student trying to pretend he's someone important. Why would he have to keep telling us he's retired and living in Hawaii? Why would someone living in Hawii spend their time posting on message boards? He's just someone pretending to be something he's not.

Lehigh 808 may be retired in Hawaii as he claims, but I would guess he was able to do so because he won money in the lottery and not through a high-paying job and schrewd planning
