Leopards In The News

Leo Plenski head coach and Rob Curley his offensive coordinator are leading the Bristol , Bucks County , PA football team on an undefeated run of six games. Under Leo's guidance the team has returned to prominence in spite of being a small school that was moved up a class by the PIAA. For anyone interested the story  was featured in today's (Oct. 10) Bucks County Courier Times on the first page of the Sports section as the lead story. It is easily accessed on the internet.

Thanks 68er. I met Rob Curley the day after Sandy at a Wawa in Cherry Hill, NJ. I didn't know who he was but saw the "California Grill" sweatshirt he had and commented that I had eaten there afternoon before Sandy when I decided to abandon my plans to ride out Sandy at my condo literally two blocks from the Grill and left LBI at 6PM the night before the storm hit. He said his uncle owns California Grill. Rob was a nice guy. Wasn't Leo an OL player? Year?

Plenski was a tackle and long snapper.
An ex-Pard employee, Dustin Clarke, has left Michigan to be the Mets' strength and conditioning coach.

Joe Maddon resigns, now a free agent.

I'm for it! Interesting but the Times did article and there aren't a whole lot of options for him to land right now.

The old Rays GM is now with the Dodgers.  The ESPN talking heads think that Joe may be in line to be the manager of the Dodgers if Donny Baseball can't get it done next season.  Joe may take a year off until the right opportunity opens.  I hope Joe lands with a team with a decent payroll, he deserves to display his talents with a team that can afford to keep players!

Yeah apparently that Dodgers guy has a year left and the new GM just issued a letter of support of him. So its at least a year unless he has to literally eat his words...

Joe Madden is "sitting in the Catbird's seat." To coin a phrase. He can make a ton of money as a color commentator on some cable or TV iteration while waiting for the job he wants to surface whatever that may be .Judging from the interviews I've seen , he is extremely articulate and entertaining and like Pat Summerall or John Madden does not engage in the  "jock babble." If anything he may speak too intelligently for the audience.

Maddon is great! He is the best manager in baseball.

I'd take him as the AD any day!  Even with the troglodytes overseeing athletics from Markle, Maddon would find a way to win given his insightful and unconventional approaches.

I've heard Cubs... eh... well, Lafayette is a lot like the Cubs... haven't been successful since before the war!

Maddon to manage the Chicago Cubs?

Indeed, sure sounds like it.  Official announcement likely today or tomorrow.  Don't put any money on the Cubs making the Series though. They are still the Cubs.

No but the football guys who may know don't come over to this section?

PR he's from near your summer place though the offseason is great for real relaxing. I'm headed to our family place in OC NJ for a few days of reading and drinking. Here's an item from when Bradway committed:
