Nothing earth shattering here. USC is the trip home for Ben & Bryce. I believe the Brown ones beat the Condoms last year.
Looking forward to seeing the Froshmen talent.
CHIP72

I'll probably attend the Saturday 1/30 game at Loyola and Wednesday 2/17 game at American.  There's also a chance I'll attend the Sunday 11/29 game vs Penn.
Pard4Life

Army?  This schedule is not clear at all!!  Is it Army West Point or Army Group Delta or Army Camp Pendelton or Army Corps XXI???  We don't know!

There are *so* many things I could do with this.  But this is a family board, after all. Cool

I watched some of the Fordham game last week.  The home team had "ARMY" stenciled on the back of their jerseys, where teams often put the players' last names.

So I was confused as well.  Who were those guys?

EDIT - I believe it was The Army West Point Black Knight Cadets that beat USC last season.
Kpard

Correct! Our brown friends beat Ariz St in 3OTs. I got my PAC 12 teams mixed up.
Grandpa Tom

Very Happy This should be a team that Fran really likes.  Most of the scoring from way down town with a little penetration from Nick and Monty.   My early prediction is 5 out of league wins and 8 league victories.  13 and 14 reg. season and knocked out the first round of the tournament.   GO PARDS!!!
Kpard

A rebuilding year for sure. It'll be fun watching the young guns.
LC Fan

As usual, it boils down to our ability to defend. This should be a much better defensive team.

Why?
pardfan

I can't think of one team that we can beat (for sure) in the Patriot League this coming season. Not Navy, not Loyola.  Nobody.
Where are the wins coming from?  I don't even want to think about playing BU or Bucknell or Lehigh.  Especially Lehigh.

I think Pardfan is really a brown stain fan 😛

Why should we be a better defensive team? The three seniors were too slow, too short, and too immobile. They were strong offensively but we gave up too many points around the rim. The replacements may not be able to score nearly as well but they have to be an upgrade on the other end of the court.

Here we go again calling the team bad before we play our first game ugh! Does anyone really know the potential of our incoming freshman scholarship recruits or how quickly they adjust to the college game ? Yes its all about talent ,team chemistry and coaching, hopefully some of the naysayers will eat their words ! GoPards! ! !

One thing I know for sure is that Trist is a much better defender than Musters.  Also Hinrichs wasn't bad defensively when he played Bucknell.

I think you're in for a surprise. Offense may be challenged but defense will definitely be better.

I wouldn't be surprised if the defense is somewhat better.   It was 337th in the nation last year and dead last in the PL.   That leaves a lot of room for improvement.   But the improvement won't come at the center spot.
adcs2

Rufer getting more minutes will help on defense.  He may be smallish but tons of grit and very intelligent on the court.

On the other hand, sometimes I think Monty believes defense is a place to rest.

Get the University of Phoenix into this League and we get two sure wins.
FOH has "recruited" us into a real hole.  With the exposure of March Madness, there isn't one school in the Patriot League that doesn't consider men's basketball to be one of its most important activities. They are not going to let the smallest school (or close to it) win at something that big.  This is serious business now.  I'd trade FOH for Lehigh's coach IN A HEARTBEAT.  This program needs energy and you're not going to get that from FOH.

Please give me a break.

Pard fan is a troll.

We will be ok but not the best. Nick Lindner will carry us a deal. 500 is the goal if some young guys step up.

My friend LCLF tells me we got two more commitments over the weekend, big guy from Canada and one from Texas. Andy, anything???????

there are no sure wins in this League going into the basketball season.  FOH
has left the cupboard bare.  Freshman Zalys film looked good; that's it.
The larger schools are really going to flex their muscle this year.

There are never any sure wins for any teams - at least since Jim Crews left the league.   However LC certainly won't be the league's worst team - likely Navy and Colgate fighting for that honor.   And the cupboard is not bare - just not as well-stocked as last year.
LC Fan

I predict that by the end of the season, around Valentine's Day, we will be very proud of our basketball team.
Kpard

IDK, I'm kinda looking forward to watching the development of this younger group. FOH has his work cut out for him, but, I think the potential is there. We lost a large class and he has replaced it. Give it a chance!
CHIP72

I'm looking forward to seeing the Leopards against Loyola (Saturday 1/30) and American (Wednesday 2/17).  There's also a chance I may go to their Sunday 11/29 home game against Penn.

The men took on Rutgers in a scrimmage Saturday afternoon and won 78-77 with Nick hitting the game winning shot with just seconds left.
Kpard

Interesting. Nick is the least of our worries. Any report on the rest?
bison137

One thing to remember is that few coaches care at all about who "wins" a scrimmage. No official score or stats are kept and few follow official rules. In fact, very few even run for two 20-minute halves.  Also teams play lots of players and combinations you will never see in real games.  And almost all coaches try things - zones, presses, etc - that you may never see in a real game.   When you put all of these thing together, it explains why it's not uncommon to hear fans of both teams saying they "won" the scrimmage.

And this isn't meant as aknock on LC by any means.  As I noted above, I think they may surprise a lot of people.   And wins by Bucknell or Lehigh or any other team also are fairly meaningless as well.
pards123

Disagree. I think this win means the team has the tools to compete for a Big 10 title.

Beating Rutgers by one point only means that the team has the tools to complete for 11th place in the Big Ten.

That may be more accurate.

SI predicts Rutgers will be the worst team at a BCS school by a huge margin. So bad that they would finish last in the CAA if they were there.
Too bad we can't get a regular-season game with them this year. We have had several good games against them in my time starting with that incredible last win over a ranked team at Piscataway.
pards123

I'm planning on going to Lafayette vs. GW next Friday. Expecting a pretty sizeable loss, but it will be nice to see the guys back out there.
