Moravian

This should be a win, but ... Lafayette has gotten blown out by some bad teams. The last game should have been a win, not an annihilation. Tomorrow's game is the last chance for a win before league play starts.
The 7-2 little school from Bethlehem runs and shoots, and goes about eight players deep.
Moravian scores 89 points per game and gives up 80. The Greyhounds shoot 47 percent from the field (38 percent from 3), and 66 percent from the line.
They are one rebound per game below their opponents. Moravian has scored 100-plus three times.
Lafayette doesn't shoot terribly except from the FT line, can't rebound and would prefer not to play defense.
Anybody who was at the Swarthmore loss has to be on edge. A victory here is essential to a 10-win year.

A D3 win doesn't count.

Yes we definitely shoot terribly from FT line. In the bottom 10 nationally. Meanwhile Lehigh is among top 10 from charity stripe

We let Moravian score 67 points on us?

The Hounds scrapped. Made a nice run late first half, but, our size and length really bothered them in the second half. Held them to 25% from the field in the second half. Better FT shooting. Off to Hawk Hill on Thursday night.

This is a setback to all the Lafayette negative nellies.

Ha! True! I did see some improvement in our offense. The young guys are learning to get their shots off quicker and stop with the annoying head fakes, which don't work at this level.
Janecek can just stroke it, if we can get him open. Stout made a FT and a layup which set him off on a little run of points. Evans, Jarret, and Klinewski really work hard. Wondering now if Boykins return will be a help or not.

Boykins went through some of the pre-game drills. He expects to play in the Colgate game, conditioning may be an issue.

I assume (and hope) you're kidding, but I'm bored and I like to look at stats, so here goes...

Each team had approximately 87 possession (source: https://captaincalculator.com/spo...ball/team-possessions-calculator/).

Moravian scored 67 points for an average of 0.77 points per possession. This average (for a season) would be around the bottom five in Division I. Lafayette scored 1.195 points per possession, which would be right around the top five in Division I if it was a season average. (source: https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/offensive-efficiency).

Imperfect math, no doubt, but the fact is we played a Division III team and did what we should do against a Division III team. Here's hoping we got out of it whatever it is we're supposed to get out of it...

No..it's our annual meaningless +1 for the win column.

It also serves as an annual reminder of the debacle in 1995.

Beyond that - I'm glad our stats looked good.

You proved my point.

This game clearly shows the difference between DI and DIII.  Greyhounds completely over-matched.

When you're right, you're right.
Beating Moravian changes everything.

MBB state of affairs:

Announcers for Moravian game said Janacek commented that he sought Lafayette.  What does Fran do with all that free time?
